Default BEGI S4, GT2860RS, 3" Exhaust

Tim tuned an '03 S4 with a 3" exhaust today. The car's set up: GT2860RS Internally gated, IC #2, 2.75" Downpipe, 3" Mid pipe (no cat), and 3" Left Exit Exhaust. Other mods are minor and of no consequence, oil catch can, powder coating etc... Owner is going the forged internal route this summer, so we tuned for 13 psi as requested.

Results: 272.46 rwhp, 235.50 ft-lbs. @ 13 psi. Correction factor: STD 1.03 as calculated by the weather station.

Best numbers done with the Xede unit on a Miata so far.
Stephanie

94 < 2000 lbs w/99 motor @ ~14psi , 271hp-235ft/lbs, GT2560R with AbsurdFlow© tubular manifold/intercooler piping/3" stainless turbo-back exhaust
Interesting how similar the power is. So how is Paul's car making as much power with a smaller turbo at similar boost level? And doesn't the 03 have higher compression than the 99?

No bashing, but serious questions. Is it engine managment? Manifold design? Am I missing something?

Nice numbers, that must be insane to drive.

Thumbs up

Hi Stephanie,

Did you guy do any pulls with the standard map in the Xede? If so, please post them. I would like to see the difference Dyno tuning makes.

Stephanie,

I'd love to see runs made with a similar system on a 94! Hopefully a black one with a hard top and snow tires.

Sam-03's have lower comp. than 99's and also, pauls maps are very aggressive on timing
paul also has a 3" DP vs 2.75" and its more straight compared to BEGi's IIRC
id like to see the S4 with a MS dyno tuned and then look at the numbers

I'm pretty sure the '03 had 10:1 where the 99 had 9.5:1. I'm not Sam by the way

Zabac,

You might get your wish when they finish my car. My 94 is down there as a mule. They're installing the S4 system and should be doing testing/ tuning any time now. (I hope!)

I believe the 03 has higher CR also.

Maybe this persons CR is lower because he modded it??

I'll be happy to see that. I'm going to get an S3, GT2860RS, 3" from dp to bumper, MSPNP, RX7 550's.

damn it! beat me by 1 HP!!! but I weigh ~400 lbs less. Anyway, I was thinking my torque is kinda low at 235 for 271hp but I see you made the same. Should the torque be a lil closer to the HP max or is that typical?

Tim was supposed to copy files for me. I will check and see if he did.

Corky says that is typical. Due to the pressure losses and/or drag in the system (If i am understanding correctly!). In order to get more torque we would need to increase flow (bigger TB, less drag thru IC, less drag thru filter, etc.) and increase the boost levels.
Stephanie

p.s. 1 less psi too.

Me too. I basically have the same setup as Chris already in my 96 except I got a used S5 with a T3 turbo and 3" Enthuza exhaust (no cat ), AEM and 550 injectors so I've been waiting to read your impressions when you get your kit.

Looks good Steph/Tim/Begi! With an Xede too, very nice. I too would like to see Paul's 2560 plot overlaid on this 2860RS plot to see how much later, if any the 2860rs spools. You guys are kinda close to sea level, right?

I think you guys should drive up to delaware next weekend for the dyno day too.
