Bp4w w/VVT, evoX/Msm bastard, custom manifold, not enough injector
Had a chance to dyno a purchase i made back in January from hospital when my twins were born. 8 months later, a custom manifold, a very difficult intake design later and I’m happy with the results. Feels very linear, and made 30hp more than expected.
Rx8 injectors ran out of fuel above ~6000rpm, I need bigger injectors and maybe a bump to 60psi fuel pressure.
It’s currently running straight wastegate, ideally I’d loosen it to hopefully lower peak boost, and use EBC to even it out, and slowly bring it up to make some serious power.
All this of course should probably come after some forged rods, and if I can up boost to over 300hp, I should probably install forged pistons as well.
I also managed to forget to turn VICS on, which would have given me some additional low end punch.
So all all in all, lots of easy gains to be had, injectors being the biggest restriction currently.

Years ago on my 1.6t setup, I wired the EBC signal to a switch, so I could switch it off and have a wastegate only low boost setup, and EBC high boost setup. When I swapped in the naturally aspirated BP4W, I used that same wire to switch the VICS, and it usually stays on. For whatever reason it was switched off and I didn't notice until after the straps came off on the dyno.
There's really no discernible reason to switch VICS on/off, so when EBC does happen, it'll use the switch, and VICS will always be on. again, engine build first :(

I'm interested, as I have found a nice low miles BP4W that will be a future transplant in my NA, which currently has a NB6, with a FM2 set up, and FF640's. I'v been reading thru tons of older posts about pulling the butterfly's, or wiring in an aftermarket RPM switch to control the VICS, or doing nothing. Of course the online opinions are all over the place, but seems like it's worth it to have the VICS functioning, and it seems straight forward enough to wire in, but I'm always interested in grounded info on the subject.

I’ve tuned close to a dozen VICS setups, don’t ask me why, maybe my influence? Anyways, I always do back to back changes with Vics on at 1000rpm and 9000rpm, there’s a definite advantage to it, obvious gains above 5500, or below, depending on how you look at it. what id love someone to pay be to do is do back to back squaretop vs. VICS manifold.

It is, still has 200ft/lbs+ cruising around for lazy freeway passes, and is an absolute rocket ship past 4000rpm. This EVOX turbo is very impressive, wouldn't mind building a manifold with a bone stock one and seeing what it does. Mine has the MSM turbine housing and wheel. However I think they're EFR money, so I doubt that'll happen for most people, understandably so.
