Default DIY small 16g at ~8.5psi

Dynapack dyno. A bit less power than I was hoping for, but I'm quite pleased for the money invested. I will post a log of the pull when I get home. Thinner, lower line was at an "improper" ramp time.

Useful things I learned while on the dyno (3 pulls, power pulls only):
1) I accidentally had an old map loaded with EBC DC values set to start opening the WG at 3000rpm instead of 3600rpm. Oh well. Boost held steady otherwise.
2) Apparently I hadn't tuned very well at redline, as I went so rich I thought God himself was powering my injectors. Very rich up top.
3) Dip in power at ~5200rpm is from a very rich region.

Some things I haven't figured out:
1) Why would the torque be dropping so much as I climbed into the rev band?
2) Not sure what was causing the richness at 5200rpm, because running the pulls through VE Analyzer didn't alter those cells much.

torque loss is most likely from the exhaust....sure the boost wasn't dropping a pound or two by redline? really not bad for 8.5psi.

Ah, the exhaust. Indeed.
Boost was pretty rock solid after the transition into max boost (boost DC issue).

IGN timing will also loose power up top. My Link pulled a full 10* of advance at higher rpm for AIT compensation and the torque curve looked just like that. I still think there's a lot of potential in both the top and bottom end. I expected to see more torque sooner.

The dyno just wasn't right. My boost curve is just so much better on the street than the dyno, and Ben's car wasn't spooling well on the dyno either.

I have Ben's pulls on tape, so once I figure out how to hook the cam to the computer, I'll upload. Probably just a matter of finding the right drivers/software and a USB cable.

For sure. I think part of that is due to my boostDC screw-up. With the right table, I saw about 1.5-2psi higher between 3-3.5k rpm.

One thing to add that I hadn't thought about...I'm using a paper media air filter from a late '80s Prelude That doesn't help low end torque any!

As promised, a snapshot from the MS log taken during the pull. Also, I'm throwing up a cleaned-up shot of the pull.

Where did you get your manifold? Did you make it? I'm planning on going with a evo 3 16g and as far as I can tell Im going to have to build my manifold. Do you have and pics of how you did it? Any "wish i would have done this this way" ? Internal or external wastegate?

I bought the manifold and downpipe as a set from somebody that hadn't ended up using it; he had it made custom by Turbo Tony of GReddy downpipe fame. It's schedule 40, I believe (very thick anyway) and places the turbo real low to allow for the large, straight downpipe. Internal wastegate. If I were to do it again, I would change my intercooler setup, but I absolutely love the manifold/turbo/downpipe combo.

By the way: looking back at the logs posted here, and checking my VE table...I was DAMN rich between 3000-4000rpm, you can see it in the log image posted. Looks like VE Analyzer richened up the cells at the way top, which are only averaged in maybe 25% due to the kPa increments), when I hit overboost protection while tuning my EBC. Huh. I've got some almost-out-of-range cell tuning to do by hand.
