Got my miata dyno tuned on friday.

I got my 92 miata with the greddy kit dyno tune with emanage on friday here are my results max rwhp 164 max rwtrq 149, I got it dyno on a mustang dyno
so it reads lower than other dyno's.

deseroner 09-09-2006 04:50 PM

I forgot to mention I ran the car on the dyno at 10psi on pump gas 91 ca

Mach929 09-10-2006 08:50 PM

seems about right for a mustang dyno. do you have an a/f log?

deseroner 09-10-2006 10:45 PM

no did not ask for one but my tuner told me it was 10.5 flat, he said it was perfect, no problems.

magnamx-5 09-10-2006 11:46 PM

nice stuff. 10 psi if you are realy 10.5-1 then you could lean it out abit with some more boost.

deseroner 09-10-2006 11:54 PM

so my numbers on the mustang dyno are 164 rwhp/149rwhp, wonder what numbers would they be on a dynojet the reads higher, so how much correction.

magnamx-5 09-11-2006 12:09 AM

:bigtu: about 13-15% you would be around 185-190 whp wich is not to shabby at all but you probably have a little more on the table:bigtu:

tabs604 09-11-2006 04:58 AM

nice figures!

When I dynoed a similar setup at 10psi on a dynojet, I had 189rwhp so that 13-15% correction from mustang dyno to dynojet seems about right. Nice numbers. :)

MiataNuTca 09-17-2006 02:41 PM

Ya, if your 10.5 a/f, there is some more hidden horsies there.....

deseroner 09-17-2006 04:09 PM

thats what my tuner told me, I was at 10.5 a/f . Iam only at 10psi, and want to raise the boost to 14psi on race gas and see how much power I can increase. I've done it before on race gas, and felt it pull more at 13psi.

magnamx-5 09-17-2006 08:36 PM

if you dont have enough fuel to make the hp then all the boost in the world is useless the reason 13 felt better than 14 is most likely becouse you only had enough fuel for 13 on that day.

clshrckr 09-18-2006 04:32 PM

nice man
im located in the bay also so im wondering where did you get tuned at?

deseroner 09-18-2006 05:28 PM

In union city at full function technology sean is the tuner, he installed my emanage and he did my dyno tune, He is a good tuner.

ghettoracer 05-13-2007 11:02 AM

that's pretty good on a mustang. dragged your car before?

no, wreck the miata and got me a mr2 turbo, and had my problems with new car , had to replace a bad built engine, but now its fully operational no more problems, will get the new car tune, miss the miata, but oh well had to move on . Has anyone consider putting a 3sgte into a miata, wonder how that would work.. Attachment 216121

1991 mr2 turbo with gen3, stock longblock, coolingmist methanol 50/50,sard 800 cc, ats td06-20g wastegate at 1.2bar, full exhaust, power fc w/datalogit.
the power was made at 22psi, cause my wastegate is set for 17.4 but I guess all the flow of eexhaust makes it go higher, so I will get a 15.4 spring, no boost controller, so I can run safer dynoed on 91 ca pump gas 313.73rwhp torque 279.67, no race gas
Attachment 215692

greenday3437 10-09-2007 02:08 PM

In the pic it looks like your wastegate has no boost signal going to it? If its still like that i could see why your boosting so high

deseroner 10-09-2007 02:27 PM

I've change it from a 17.4 spring to a 15.4 spring psi , and Iam boosting at 1.2bar to 1.4bar 18 to 20 psi
before I was 22-23
here is the original copy of dyno

dude, did you drag your MR2 out in Sacramento a few months ago? There was this baddass MR2 pulling mid 12's (definitely turboed too by the sound)? If so I was the black turbo miata running out there

must have been my friend who goes there and race was it a black mr2 with no wing. his best ever was 12.5 He has 291rwhp.

thesnowboarder 10-22-2007 11:10 PM

Im also in the bay area, i was wondering how much it cost and how long it took to get ur car tuned in Union city (the miata that is)
Thanks

deseroner 11-07-2007 01:13 PM

well I went to turbohoses.com and I got my car (my mr2)tuned in livermore, as for the miata I got it tune at full function in union city, but they are dedicated to evo's now. Maybe ricky b at turbohoses can tune your car, what setup do you have on the miata.

airbrush1 11-07-2007 04:42 PM

love MR2's especially with the way the exhaust looks in the back. What exhaust is that?

deseroner 11-09-2007 01:48 AM

greddy extreme jdm with jasma imprinted, just bought sway bars st front and rear trying to get my handling back like my old miata na.

kotomile 11-09-2007 03:08 AM

Its so damn tight in those engine bays...

Nice numbers though.

Saml01 06-04-2008 09:36 AM

I always wanted an MR2 turbo :-(

I heard they are difficult to drive though, snap over steer or something. Some say it can be mitigated but still a constant thing to be concerned about.

Something like that, I dont know 100%.

m2cupcar 06-04-2008 09:40 AM

nice ride - I'd expect more torque from a 2.2...? That said, your torque curve is nice - holds forever and keeps the hp climbing. :bigtu:

One thing you can do to help your IC is clock that turbo more vertical and do a new bend in that IC pipe right off the compressor to get it away from the manifold. That thing has to be cooking hot. Even shield that tube.

yeah. and the intercooler in what little trunkspace he had doesn't make it better.

y8s 06-04-2008 10:37 AM

ok I had to look at those numbers again ... you say it's a 2.2? with a GT35R? There's some torque missing below 4500. my puny 1.8 has 200 ft-lbs at 3800 at 10 psi.

what kind of boost control are you using?

They aren't that weird to drive. They do pivot pretty fast if you're not on top of things, but so can miatas. The mk1 had some weird geometry that toed out on the rear on throttle lift, but it was a an easy car to drive if setup halfway decent.

deseroner 06-04-2008 11:10 AM

it is a 2.0 stock bottom gen 3 from mr2 gt model in japan, not at all y old intercooler pipes ran on top of manifold not that hot at all, I will have 2 12"spal fans on it,also waiting for a trunk lid with a hole in it with a saburu scoop, like this one on this page in the middle http://www.jekylhyderacing.com/hyde/intercooler2.htm

I got st sway bars,fr/rear strut bars, front lower bar,255 in rears and 215 front, solid front end links, eibach pro kit springs but nowhere near a miata na on handles w/same setup, on my old miata had sway bars also and shocks, stiff springs, plus my wife misses my miata, hates my mr2 :)

it is the turbo if you look at big gt35r , look at td06-20g I hit 200 earlier, I have a 2.0l

I dunno man, that torque curve on the old turbo is pretty nice ... looks like you had an extra 50ft/lbs of torque between 4k and 5k and more overall power across the board right up until 6k. Nice peak power though, that should get some good 1/4 mile times.

I think you'll be suprised once you throw some decent shocks on there. The N/A Mk2 has a pretty well documented history of dominating the NA chassis miata in stock class autocross. Once you start straying much farther than that as with anything, all bets are off.

ashC 06-05-2008 06:37 PM

MK2 SW20 n/a motor dominates auto-x, even more so the 93+ with the revised suspension

That is a really badass mr2 and setup you got going on.
Looks like it will be nasty.

Something I don't understand about the IC though, maybe you can clear it up for me:
Its routed through the trunk, and mounted on the floor of the trunk?????
So there's essentially no airflow going through it but air just being pushed to it? Also isn't there a hot ass exhaust directly underneath the floor board its mounted to?

Just seems inefficient as hell
