Default GTX2860R : Kraken Low Mount -VS- FM DIY Kit

Turned up the boost on the Kraken setup tonight. Its dropping boost at higher rpm Im gonna have to look into that. But this is a comparison on my car the only differences are the Kraken setup has springs and retainers Supertech, the FM run was with a bone stock head. Other than that its the same engine, turbo, intercooler, etc. Looks like the Kraken setup gives massive gains at higher rpm. Thought you all might enjoy it.

Red line is Kraken , Blue Line is FM. Kraken setup was dropping boost past 5000rpm and still made way more than the FM.

You may be right. I had this same issue with the FM setup as well with both my 2560 and 2860 dropping boost after 5500. If I had an EBC I could increase the duty % to keep the wg closed and see if that would hold boost. Just now I switched my refrence line from right before the TB to after the TB. I am aware of people who are against having your Boost controller refrence after the TB, but Im curious to see if it makes any change. Manually tightening the wg rod did not make it hold more boost just have a larger initial spike.

Yes you need EBC, Andy. I think you'll see some additional top end gains.

Really cool to see how the Kraken low mount flows better than the FM manifold all else being equal. Thank you.

I also have a full Kraken low mount 3" kit and an EFR 6258. Currently in the process of building my engine so I can join you in the pantheon of greatness.

Wow, you made the power WITHOUT EBC? Yikes!

When you get EBC installed and dialed in it will feel like a whole new car.

Already figured out how to get her to hold boost. No ebc needed

Truly impressive output Andy. I expect to see bits of transmission and differential flying out the back of your car any time now.

I think the reason the boost curve on my engine is 25psi ending at 22psi isnt due to not having an ebc I think this turbo compressor it at its limit airflow wise. Its a 42lb compressor wheel rated by Garrett for 475 but I think they are a little optimistic on their ratings bc 42lb is roughly 420hp and Im close to that. Looking at the compressor map at 1.5bar boost its totally tapped out, above that it actually starts flowing less air. Im happy though no need for a GTX2867.....lol

the wheel I have is made by arashi but it's a direct copy and flows the exact same. It's a 46mm wheel with a 60mm exducer it can only do so much.

Been working on the tune more. Was able to remove the tq dip at 5500rpm. AFR still needs Little more work but it's basically done. The car makes right over 400whp on every pull now.

How this translates to a real dyno? I remember you had it on a dyno once.

if you do virtual dyno correctly it's very accurate. Before I went on the dynojet and made 373whp on the other setup VD said I was at 370whp/355ftlb. The dynojet said 373/352. So it's very very close. If I went and put it on the dyno again it should be within +-5whp

That is 93 + VP octanium =100 octane. If I run straight 93 I actually run similar timing to you, 17-18* @18psi. The VP octanium is mmt based booster I can buy right down the street from me and it works really really well.
