Default Emanage and MAF

I have a UK 1997 Mk1 (NA) 1.8 and have problems fitting an emanage blue.

I cant get the MAF connected, the white wire on the emanage is supposed to go to the sensor and the green to the ecu, all the jumpers are set at the factory settings. Here is the air flow wiring diagram with the ECU pin outs.

As you can see there are only really 2 ECU pin outs to choose from, 3K is the air temp and 3B is where I need to connect.

I cant connect my emanage to the MAF wiring on my ECU. I have tried setting the pots to 3-A-0, 3-A-3 and 3-A-C. I have even tried fitting the 1K resistor just in case that was the issue but, I still cant get my car to start with the MAF plugged into the emanage. I have even tried a new Emanage unit just in case mine was at fault.

Every thing runs okay with a Greddy 3bar sensor fitted and I can tune using that, but I cant understand why the engine wont fire up when the MAF is wired in.

After you have broken the line at 3B, the Emanage white wire should go to the MAP side and the Emanage Green wire should go to the ECU side

Thanks for the reply. I have the Green wire going to the ECU side and the white going too the MAF sensor.

Are the internal jumpers set correctly?

The Emanage is grounded at the ECU?

Here is a link to the ECU Pinout. http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/r...azda_Miata.phpAs you can see it show 3B as being correct. The emanage and injectors are earthed at 4D, which is the ECU earth.

All the jumpers are still at the facory settings. If I reconnect the MAF wires and bypass the Emanage, everything works okay.

The only other things connected are the Greddy 3bar sensor and one of your O2 clamps.

Can you verify that the European model has the same pin-out? I have checked other US model diagram and it seems to confirm 3B

I have searched the net to see if there was a difference between the UK wiring diagrams and the US model, but everything I have seen points to 3B being the MAF pin.

Today, I went over my wiring again and rechecked the jumper settings on the Emanage and I still cant find the problem. I managed to get it started with the MAF connected, but it was running very rich and as soon as I pressed the accelerator the car stalled and would'nt start untill untill I took the emange out of the loop by reconnecting the MAF/ECU wiring.

This is really starting to bug me as everything works perfectly if I just use the MAP and ignore the MAF altogether.

Make sure that your injector change is zero in both blocks and hit confirm while the ignition is on and the unit is communicating.

There was some information on the UK forum about the 97 ECUs....

There are different ecu's over there... How many plugs do you have on your ecu? The 94/95 USDM/Can are 2 plugs.... the USDM 97 are 3 plugs, much closer to the 99/00....

I recall them having discussions on the 97 with imoblizer, and without... and them being different.

If you haven't, check out on the mx5nutz and see.....

Dave,
