Add Haltech Sub-Forum?

I think the Haltech Elite Series will prove to be superior to the MS3 as far as build quality and appears to offer more. Haltech USA has also answered the phone every single time immediately, helping me over the phone. Awesome customer service. The Elite software is pretty damn user friendly for a noob like me and you get a huge full wiring diagram, that if you make changes to the ecu, you are able to print a new wiring diagram directly from the ecu itself . As I see it, I found the price difference to be a no brainer between MS3/pro and the Elite 1500. Just look at the ECU case it's self. Water proof, high impact, molded, military grade looking. Then look at a MS3pro, and it houses the same type of multi piece not weather proof aluminum box, like a DIY MS. Not very impressive IMO.
If this turns into a vendor bashing crap-fest I'm gonna shut it down real quick.
So prove it by becoming a vendor? Words are cool, but actions are so much more effective. Help SUPPORT this forum

I am in no way intending to bash on MS and am fairly familiar with it's success and community support. I was just stating why I chose to go with the Haltech Elite. Not looking for a debate, or technical battle. I was not confusing MS3pro with anything, and had just looked over pictures and specs quickly before typing, not my first look either. It's obvious MS would have more support, I would expect everyone would know that as it has been in the community for a long time. To me, that is not a top priority as I'd expect the cost to reflect some things in the hardware and would not feel the need to make my decision on that. As I said I have had nothing but prompt, and helpful responses from Haltech. Btw, my Elite is completely PNP on my MSM in stock form, with minimal changes due to upgrades/mods. Their products are all very pnp with each other. Another reason I chose. Again, I don't, have anything negative to say about MS and can't from experience. Just my opinion based off years of observing the products and experiences, and comparing my notes to another product. I am just feeding into the desired Haltech Subforumn, not hating on MS.

Why does it not feel like that? Every post you've made regarding Haltech makes me feel very much the contrary. Paging Concealer.
I'm doing my part to give back to this wonderful community that has helped me with so many aspects of my personal build. I've even made posts in the other sub-forums offering help when I can, but only when my actual experience covers the answer. Funny way to try and sell a vendor spot when the forum's most vocal moderator is hostile towards anything non-MS. This is my attempt to kill that hostility with kindness, by offering support I am not paid or otherwise obligated to offer. I did not realize that all of the sub-forums actually paid to be sub-forums but I will submit information to IB right now to see what this will take monetarily. "Money makes the word go'round"
For the foreseeable future these will remain separate brands using different software and different hardware. It'd be a bit confusing to combine them. MSPro and MSPNP are separate sub-forums for this reason I'm sure.

Hi, I am considering a Elite 1500 and I was curious if anyone who is running one could help answer a few questions? I have FM Voodoo I kit on a fully built (BP4W head, all forged, balanced, etc.) '94 Miata. I have a local tuner who is comfortable with Haltech. Right now, I am getting ready to ditch the Voodoo box and install some FF640s, DW200, and Mac BC valve. My questions are generally centered on two things:
1. Trigger support for the CAS; I have a yoshifab wheel for a 1.6 optical CAS, but I am considering a trigger wheel for my ATI using a 99 crank sensor. Thoughts on using the CAS alone versus adding the crank trigger?
2. Wiring in the IAT and Mac valve...can I do this the same way as you would MS, i.e. through the MAF harness?
Thanks.

As for trigger support I think that depends on the base map you select. You can probably change to either one as there are trigger settings in the software but whatever base map you select it as is probably preconfigured to the style sensors that would be for that year range. You can always download the base map files from Haltechs website and compare their settings. If you're going to run a different optical disc inside the CAS you'd have to modify the settings for that sensor anyways.

It looks like you'll have to wire the IAT into the aux connector.

In terms of the trigger, I was a bit more delighted. The PnP harness and basemap will handle the CAS out of the box, including the Yoshifab wheel, or so I was told. I imagine I could wire in the 99 crank trigger using a CAS patch harness and be good to go. So, lots of options there.
Nevertheless, I am still interested in anyone's experience with setting up their triggers on the Elite. Will be lookimg to purchase mine next week.

So I got the Haltech installed with the PnP harness. Couple of things I learned:
1. You can wire the IAT only into the MAF plug.
2. The PnP is great, but you have to modify it to take advantage of all the available inputs and outputs. I made a secondary auxillary plug. Boost solenoid, knock sensor, WB, and external MAP all go to this connector.
If I were to do it again, I would have got their standard harness and wired it myself into one half of a patch harness or female ECU connectors.
Other thoughts:
Lots of available inputs/ouputs. Love it.
The autotune, especially the long term trim, works really well. Got my car idling really well quickly.
So yea, a sub forum would be great.
Only issue I am having is my dash tach doesn't work. I have 94, so the ECU does not provide the signal. The Haltech has an adjustable tach output. I can specify a square wave up to 12v. Set to low or high with a 4k7 pullup. So, I am not sure how this should be setup. Any thoughts?

I started with a PnP adapter but ended up bying a basic loom and wired it in using a combination of existing harness and new connections.
So much you can do with this ECU and very easy to work with.

I've got an Elite 1500 and love it, for tach output I'm using DPO1 and I have mine set to Active State High and Pullup Voltage 12v and it works great, does a cool tach sweep on start up.
