Yesterday I got E8 on my MTX gauge. I'd been driving on the highway doing some autotuning and all seemed fine then shortly after pulling off I hit traffic stopped the autotune and turned ego control back on. A few minutes later I got E8 on the gauge until I turned off and on the ignition. A quick search shows E8 could be faulty sensor, (mine is 9months old but only done 3k miles), or sensor overheat or possibly firmware issues? Does any one know if the MTX and LC1 firmwares are the same? E8 issue on LC1 is often fixed by either downgrading or upgrading the firmware from 1.1 to either 1.0 or 1.2 beta? Will the same work for the MTX? I have emailed Innovate but no reply. I have a trip to the Nurburgring and Spa next week and want a working wideband/AFR gauge.

Exhaust manifold downpipe about 2' from the engine, (when fitted to my previous 1.6 manifold it was in one manifold branches but did not E8, that manifold was wrapped though ). I've ordered a small sheet of copper to make a DIY heatsink but wanted to check if it's worth changing the firmware. (I've also ordered a new bosch sensor just in case as I'm a bit paranoid about any issues on my long trip next week).

Hmmmm maybe it is just an overheat issue.... Highway driving, then stuck in traffic with no air moving around sensor???

if changing the o2 sensor results in an E8 again, your mtx-l might be faulty. A lot of people actually have experienced this (after looking at more reviews), including myself. I went through 3 different o2's thinking they were going bad, but it turned out to be the actual mtx-l itself. I sent it in for replacement and even the replacement had the same problems. I happened to have a different mtx-l that I swapped in, and it has been fine for months now. I also happen to have a couple extra o2 sensors that I initially thought were bad, but are just fine. It's a good wideband if you don't end up with a random lemon

And yes, I made a DIY copper heatsink too after the initial E8 error hoping that I had just overheated the sensor. This was on a N/A miata with the WB in the stock O2 location

I've made a diy copper heatsink and have a spare O2 sensor with me just on case for my trip tomorrow. Have not had another e8 error yet... Worse case my fuel map is pretty good and checked on a rolling road last week so if I do get receptive E8 errors I'll just disable ego control, (which is only set 10% anyway), and run the fuel map as it is.

I used to get the E8 error all the damn time when I was NA and had the sensor in the factory bung. I moved in further downstream during my turbo installation and haven't had the code sense.

DIY copper heatsink seems to have worked. Drove to the Nurburgring and Spa with no E8 error.

How did you make this copper heat sink ?

I've had a random E8 also. I have my sensor at 12:00 about 5-6 inches before the midpipe.
I'm running a SC though...

My wings are bent in different directions due to clearance issues but have had no E8 errors since.
