Default Link ECU

Hi all I am new to the miata community and have just picked up a 94 with a FM2 Kit and from what I can tell its the older kit with the snake tubing and small intercooler. I bought it on a no start and I got it running with a new TPS. Currently the car idles fine but every so often the idle drops and the car will die unless you keep it alive, and the tach jumps around but then it returns back to nromal. Also the car seems to be running super rich and this may be one of my problems. It also seems to either boost cut or rich cut at around 4k rpm on acceleration. The car is run by the piggyback LINK ecu and ive been reading old manuals. Does someone know what could be causing the surge in idle and is there a way to reset the ECU to factory, I am aware that I need to do tests and tat the ECU needs to relearn its tune. Thanks, John

Hey dude, I run the same ECU on my 1.8 swapped ‘90.

To reset the ecu and clear whatever tune is on there, scroll to the reload screen with the select buttons, pick the base map you want using the edit buttons, then while holding the correct edit button, press down both adjust keys until the screen is filled with asterisks. The ECU will reboot and the base map will be loaded. Keep in mind that if you do this and your injectors are not the standard ones (440cc I believe) that FM shipped with the kit, your car may run worse or not start at all unless you mess with the injector offset and master fuel settings.

I would suggest you drive the car in the ZoneF screen and adjust the fuel in that zone until it stops misfiring. This is a much safer option than a full reset. As for the boost cut, you should be able to increase the MAP threshold in the Max Kpa screen to whatever you want. Once you’ve done this make sure to do a store and your settings will be saved when you start the car again.

PM me if you need any more help with the link

best of luck.

Thanks since I posted this I have redone the fuel mapps using the ZoneF and I raised the target kpa and now I've got my 12psi. The stumble or misfire is gone but currently I still have the tach jump problem and it's basically useless. It even jumps when the car is in ignition not even on. I did the grounds maybe it's a coil idk. I'm new so if this posts wrong that's why. Thanks, john

My guess would be the cluster itself.
