TurboRoach- once you figure it out, I can try and get you listed as a contact for selling these on the PLink site... if you want.

this week sometime. I've been out of town for a bit.

Is there any way I can bench test the ECU? Like ground it and give it 12v and trigger so I can set the map without it in the car?

Since the install involves cutting/moving wires which will make the stock ECU useless I want to do the basemap first so I don't run into any problems.

You should be able to just give it gnd and +12v to test the communication. I don't think it needs a trigger, I could be wrong though its been awhile since i used the link.

What if I just plugged it into my car, without doing all the wire swapping. Would it get 12V and be able to link up with my computer?

I wouldn't try to turn the car on or anything... just turn it to ACC.

I'm having issues testing everything.

I plugged the ECU is and put the car to ACC and attached to the computer while running Dataloglab. Nothing.

What am I missing?

The ECU is not installed I just wanted to get power to it to see if the computer would read the ECU and I could set the base map I wanted.

You have to turn the key to the ON position.

You know, that may have been it..

I'm using the trial version of DataLogLab. But it skips the first part now and goes right to the program. I think I chose the wrong default at the first opening of the program.

I looked through the program and couldn't find anything in regards to "read ECU" or "load map". I downloaded the map I want from Flying Miata's website.

My PowerFC in my FD is so easy... You just press "read ECU"... this thing is starting to make me frustrated.

Yeah the link software is kind of a pain. To get the map that is in there: File->New, select zone settings, OK.

If you were expecting to see live data in datalog you'll be disappointed. You should download RTLink.

I'm not concerned with the datalogging portion.

I just want to load the proper map so I can drive my car to the tuner, 300 miles away.

Ahh.. I see how it works now. It won't do the whole process since I'm sitting in my living room not at my car...

But.. is this how I should do it?

Plug ECU into car, Plug ECU into computer
Turn to "ON" position
File -> New -> select zone

Then what?

It will load what's on the ECU? Can I then open the map (it's a .txt file) I downloaded from FM and load it on the ECU?

I just meant when you had it connected and didn't see anything.

I know where the tuner is, its 5 miles from my house
