Default USB to serial adapter for diypnp. Which ones work?

Anyone have a brand that works. I have tried two different usb to serial adapters and both won't work. One of them worked with my dataloglab and serialink so it doesn't appear to be the computer.

I now have to hook it up to my desktop. That will be fun datalogging. Most new laptops are doing away with the DB9 so where does this leave us?

I've never had any issues with my ATEN one with the FIFO buffers turned down to 0.

We haven't seen many issues with any adapter with a FTDI chipset, such as the one we sell.

I bought the GigaWare at RadiosHack both times. Never the slightest problem. I think rharris is using my beat up old one on the yellow 2.0L V-band car. $40 bucks...but such is piece of mind, and you can find it around the corner. Tried cheaper ones...never worked for ****.

Ftdi adapters just create a comm port in windows and communicate through a serial connection. If you are having trouble with an adapter with a ftdi chip in it its likely your OS or config that is screwing you up.

I've used several with the GUC232 chipset. There's one under the IOGear brand, and I've seen several in white-box form.

Thanks everyone. There's and adapter at work with the ftdi chipset. I'll try it and see if it works.
