Hey all! I've done all sorts of wiring changes and am slowly tiring of cutting, stripping, and soldering or using butt connectors to connect everything to connector pigtails. My current project is rewiring my fuel pump with a new dedicated relay and big-gauge SLX wiring. I feel that some of the purpose of the rewire is defeated if I simply splice it into the old fuel pump wires, so I would like to repin the actual connector (and install a new connector) so I can have the SLX wire all the way up to the hanger unit (planning on redoing the in-tank wiring whenever I decide a DW300 is necessary).

Only issue is, crimping tools and dies are expensive and relatively specialized. As a college student, I can't justify paying $500+ on various crimpers and dies, let alone trying to hunt down the ones I need. Is there a more affordable and less specialized way of going about this?

Are you trying to replace only the fuel pump connector or are you aiming to replace all the wiring from the Fuel pump to the oem Fuel Pump Relay.

I will not be rewiring from the stock relay. I’m installing a second relay next to the tank that pull directly from the battery (+ and gnd) and I’d like to repin the 12v output of that relay directly into the stock fuel hanger connector. I’d also like to repin the ground for the pump with the SLX wire and route it back to the battery as well.

The pins aren't going to accommodate wiring much larger than the factory wire.

6 inches of factory gauge wire will make little difference in the total resistance of the circuit.
