Default 1.8 bpt with miata transmission?

Im new to this forum, i searched and couldnt find an answer. My new project is 87 b2600 4x4. In short, im pulling the blown 2,6 out of it, and i have a 1.8 bpt compete w flywheel, ecu, and awd tranny. I know miata trannys will bolt up to the motor, but im unsure of flywheel, clutch, tob compatibilty. My thoughts are, to keep bpt flywheel and clutch if i can, bc they obviously are strong enough, but will a miata trans work with them? Any and all help would be appreciated.

thanks,

david

the flywheel and clutch will work, the tob not sure what you'll need there.(bpt might)
that clutch combo will work at stock boost level, you turn the boost up in a truck that clutch is history.

and the tranny too, 4x4 adds a lot of resistance to driveline and the 5-sp is not noted for strength

oh ghetto crawler - in that case, clean and paint the block and tranny before you put them back in - fluorescence purple or orange, and use neons to really show off the new addition - hey, you spent the effort, brag

The PBT clutch won’t work with the Throw out bearing that fits the Miata transmission.

The BPT clutch and flywheel is an odd ball with different offsets and no aftermarket options. Most of the BPT guys replace it with clutch and flywheel for a B6t. A B6t clutch will work on a 1.8l Miata flywheel but the Miata transmission uses a smaller diameter throw out bearing than the transvers or AWD transmissions so you’re pretty much stuck with using a Miata clutch and flywheel if your using a Miata transmission. FWIW the miata transmission and a 2wd B2000 transmisions are pretty much the same but with a different bell housings and tail sections.

I think you maybe mistaken, the stock bpt flywheel clutch combo should fit.the b6t combo fits a 90-94 awd,b6t combo fits a miata tranny.
the throw outs not so sure exactly which is needed.
Mind is fuzzy

It's safe to say you'll be the only kid on your block with one of those, lol. That is a lot of fab work! Not my flavor but very interesting build.

Hey David, where are you located and do you want to sell that bpt 4wd tranny?

I could always use more of those.

That ebay manifold stands no chance. Expect it to rip open within a couple weeks, unless you brace it.

I was also about to mention how much FAIL that manifold is. No amount of words can describe how much fail

Thanks guys. Yea I gotta Fab up a brace for turbo setup and intake manifold. The obx manifold seems OK, but if I run into issues with it I'll build one...no biggie...all flanges on weirtech.ca. A buddy of mine gave me the ct-26 from an older supra, but I'm still running OEM bpt computer, head, block, injectors and boost levels. I've got an array of random miata parts mixed in to make it work rwd. The tranny, flywheel, and clutch are all 1.6 miata stuff.

As far as old tranny and engine, they are long gone, sorry. Btw I'm in NC

A stock 1.6 miata clutch also stands no chance. When people said you could get away with a stock clutch, they meant a stock Familia/ BP turbo clutch.

I have the stock bpt flywheel and clutch. Will that bolt up to 1.6 tranny?

yeah. can't mix and match clutches but the flywheel is interchangeable as long as it's accompanied but it's correct clutch.

you can use the bpt clutch with the miata trans, You will only need the throw out bearing. Im buildint a bpt in a ford festiva. I will be using a miata 1.8 clutch (there cheaper then fwd clutchs and are bigger dia) the only difference is the the throw out bearing.
