looking to find out what will go first on my motor its a 99 miata with FM turbo kit on it has full turbo back exhaust and link ecu. i want to have it tune for 15psi but i want to know what it going to go first on the motor.
The transmission?
lol i know the trany gose but im looking motor wise on what will go i have new gear sets for my trany. but looking to see what will go first in the motor at 15 psi.
looks like spelling is the first to go.
ya ya ya i know
Guy just threw a rod on #4 at 15 psi. Stock motor with Gt2560R and a good solid tune.
thats suck for the guy. looks like ill be doing rods and pistons then. dose any one know what the stock pistons are good for. not looking to ask the gov for a bailout on my miata build so if i could get away with 15psi on stock pistons that would be cool.
Do a search. There are two threads on this topic from just yesterday.
I've heard the ring lands go, after 250hp you are on borrowed time.
Paul is running 14 or 15 psi on a stock 99. It is still holding together. If your motor is running good. I would run it 14psi with a good tune and not worry about it. When it blows, Then build the next motor. Buy rods and pistons over time. Then push 17-18psi. Or are you wanting to track it? |
In short, read all the threads in this sub forum, "Engine Performance". That, will answer your questions.
EDIT: And Use Proper GRAMMAR! |
i have a track that i was going to with my bmw but sold it and i want to use this car up there seeing how its only a 30 min drive the miata has 120,000 miles on it and i plan on rebuilding the motor after the news years i want to put 15 psi for the track and 10-12psi for the street seeing how you can save 2 settings on the link ecu the car is going to be taken to a shop to be dyno tuned just dont want to kill my back pocket. i have been looking in the forums for info found some but just looking to see if i can find some more people that could give me so good info.

Paul's now running 17-18psi on that motor. I'm running 15psi on a gt2560r on a lower compression 94 engine. All good so far.

Thanks for the info i think what i am going to do is do a compression test and see were i am at and if it looks good im going to do a timing belt water pump head gasket ARP head studs port polish on the head and have it tuned on 14psi.

If the compression is good, then why screw with it? Oh, and the word is "goes." |
3 reasons time on my hands snow on the ground and i notice a little white smoke when i beat on it and the coolant goes low. so thats why im going to do it and im not sure when the timing belt was done. i hope that i do not find my rings are bad.
