I didn't ask a question, the OP did. I prefer to seek out an answer rather than asking questions as I don't have the patience to wait.

Miata.net is like Costco; this place is like a country club. If I had to deal with some of the asinine shitheaps that shop at Costco on a daily basis at my country club, I'd leave.

That is an elitist view imho. One cannot determine an individual's circumstances, upbringing, education or whatever from a simple post. If bad grammar irritates you don't read the post or, as I do, give up part way through a sentence or paragraph. To attack the writer without knowing them is not fair and may not necessarily take into account a disability or that English may not be their first language. My view is that if you can loosely understand what an individual is trying to communicate that is good enough - I don't judge people.

Being human is about communication. Language is just another from of communication - that one person cannot elucidate as well another due to language skills is not in itself a failing in that person. Patience is the key here, a trait that you clearly have by being a mod on miata.net. I personally would never say something to a person on a forum that I wouldn't say to their face - A keypad doesn't turn me into a warrior.

Braineack and Joe Perez both frequent this site and miata.net. It is very rare for either to be overtly rude to posters on either forum. In fact Joe often repeats advice to posters without ever attacking the poster or getting upset.

I'm not on here to change the habits of a lifetime. But I do recommend this site to others...with one caveat;

You completely missed the point of Sav's Post#53. It's not about being elitist of whether the poster is an educated person... it's about the QUALITY of this forum. If a person is not interested in making this forum a better, more knowledgeable place, then he's disrespecting the forum.

You don't need to be English professor to spell basic words and capitalize sentences and put a period at the end. Anybody in Junior High should know they're way around a paragraph. I've discovered quite a few ESL types around here that have 10x the writing abilities as the 17yrold-600whp-rotary douchebag with an attitude who thinks he knows everything. If have the computer savvy to find the forum, register, and find the "start thread" button, you should be literate enough also find the search button and have the common sense to Google "turbo miata" before coming here, so you should at least have heard of Flying Miata and BEGi and know what they're about before you start in with the "Iz diz eBBBayz kit NE gud?" If not, then you're really not interested in turbo'ing your Miata and will never buy anything from the sponsors, so you're just taking up bandwidth.

And again, you completely miss the point. If we were doing this in person, the individual trying to "communicate" would probably be speaking rather clear and understandable English. There are a lot of people who've adopted the TEXT mentality in everything they type. They sure as hell don't speak like that. Those people almost always are the ones who have no search/Google/spelling/punctuation/Ninja skills and who get offended when you poke a little fun at them. They ask lame questions that've been answered 100 times and are in the sticky's and are easily found in a Google search... basically, they HAVE NO RESPECT. They were searching Youtube and saw some ricer video and just had to have that sweet wing... "Hey gize, dere wuz diz purple wing diz guy had, were do U get 1?"

Brain and Joe are far too busy answering real questions and working on their nuclear fusion project to bother poking fun at NOOB's. They have us minions to do that. And if you'll READ VERY CAREFULLY, usually a NOOB gets several very straight and to-the-point requests for improvement... and the NOOB responds with "Fuck U, dis is the internetz I don't hav to spell rite". Then they get crushed.

Do me a favor... hang around for a year or so... go through several builds on your car... purchase from the sponsors... write a few sticky's... take the time really contribute to this forum and make it a place of your own... and you'll be poking fun at NOOBs in no time. It's healthy for them. The ones that are worth a shit stick around and become contributing members. The ones that are beyond hope and were never going to buy anything from the sponsors and never learn to search disappear immediately and go back to the Malibu forum.

I'm talking in reference to alot of different cars and alot of different guages. Just my experience though. I am at around 5000ft so I'm sure thats why 190 looks so high to me.

Yes. And it is appropriate. Ask a Marine if he wants to be elite or a douche and see what he says.
If little Johnny doesn't bother to practice with the team and doesn't make an effort in the big game should he get a trophy? Fuck no.
You will not get good at ANYTHING by accepting bullshit from youself or others. Elitist? Absolutely.
Not tolerant of laziness or whiners? Damn straight.

One cannot determine an individual's circumstances, upbringing, education or whatever from a simple post.
How about how seriously they take us? I bet we can figure that out in one post.
How about how seriously they take their questions? I'm SURE we can tell that just by looking at how much thought and research went into the formulation of the question.
The question speaks for itself.

If bad grammar irritates you don't read the post or, as I do, give up part way through a sentence or paragraph. Or convince them to improve their behavior or move on.

It's not fair. You pussy. Your mommy should come here and protect you from this unfairness. If a lioness kills and eats the smallest/weakest/crippled gazelle that's not unfair. That's the way the world works. That's the way America works. That's the way this forum works. What you have in this life, in this country, in this forum, is OPPORTUNITY. You either live in your mom's basement and play video games until you are 35 or you go out and do something. Nobody owes you jack. You become a CONTRIBUTING MEMBER of this forum, or the forum decides you are a taker and not a giver and loses interest in your cute little needs and wants. That, dear friend, is how it works.

This kind of touchy-feely, false self-esteem driven tripe is part of the evisceration of this great country. How you feel is NOT more important than what you do. Your unknowingly indoctrinated teachers and parents have blessed you with those fruits of Kruschev's seeds. Communist Goals - 1963 Congressional Record Read'em and weep.

My view is that if you can loosely understand what an individual is trying to communicate that is good enough You have low standards and/or no self-respect then.

- I don't judge people. Then you are a fool.

Being human is about communication. People cease being human when they are unable to communicate? Are you one of those eugenics supporters?
Language is just another from of communication - that one person cannot elucidate as well another due to language skills is not in itself a failing in that person. You are getting hung up on the skills. The problem is laziness and lack of respect, hommmeeeey.

Patience is the key here, a trait that you clearly have by being a mod on miata.net. :jerkit:I personally would never say something to a person on a forum that I wouldn't say to their face - A keypad doesn't turn me into a warrior. I need a hug.

This is one of the few forums where people generally use good grammar. I cannot read forums like SupraForums or Hondatech because their total lack of regard for the English language just sickens me. I'll cut slack if they mix up a their/they're every so often, since most of us do that, but if they can't be bothered to capitalize the first word in every sentence, that's not a problem with the language - that's a problem with them being a lazy fuck. It goes back to respecting the traditions of the forum - if you want to hang out and learn here, you'd better learn to use the shift key.

Two separate points there - again, if you spend some time here you'll understand that we aren't harsh on ESL guys if they are halfway understandable "Hey all you I am from Greece I sorry about my English" is usually met with "Hey, no worries, several of us are ESL as well." If you start out with "hey u guyz is this trbo gud 4 mi miataz" then you aren't ESL, you're just lazy.

I'm not going anywhere.

I don't actually get offended by any of the banter on here and no one has had anything nasty to say to me personally (that I've noticed anyway) I joined this forum way back in 2006 but tend to use it more as a resource for gathering information rather than to pose questions. In fact I've had my miata for 3 years, but only just fitted a greddy in the summer of 2008 - so it's taken me 2 years of reading before finally taking the plunge - so to speak.

Anyway, back to your discussions on the questions raised by the op.

:)

Well took my motor out and i found i had a bad valve and when i took the short block aprt to see what els i will need to buy i found that i had wiseco pistons and Carrillo A beam rods so that made me happy. so now im sending the head for full port and polish and oversized supertech valves.

cueball1 01-11-2009 03:41 PM

1990 1.6 - Nice! Whoever built your motor it sounds like they did it right.

Good to see you stuck around after your flaming for the OP. Hopefully it will help you ask better questions and build a better car. I'm looking forward to upgrading with a built bottom end some day.

Rotary7000. Don't be afraid to post! Ask questions when you have them. Just spend a couple minutes before you do. See if those questions were answered before. If it was touched on but not clear, quote the other thread! People are completely willing to help here. What gets flamed is someone's early posts asking questions that have been answered a hundred different ways previously. A little effort in research, spelling/punctuation and thought put into the questions go a long way toward winning friends and getting the answers needed.

1990miata1.6 01-11-2009 05:54 PM

yeah thanks i do search a lot i just like to ask questions because even though the info is there time goes on and people learn more so they maybe able to provide me with more info then the older post can. But ya I’m glad that my bottom end is good because i have only had the car for less then a week after i bought it. i am still going to send the bottom end to the shop to be hot tanked along with the head and do arp main studs and also new rod and main bearings to be safe.

1990miata1.6 01-11-2009 11:50 PM

my user name is from when i had my old miata i now have the 99 1.8l looks like some people went by my user name on my car.

It wouldn't kill you to use proper grammar.
