No if you want 350hp it is gonna cost you 17k just for the engine just like in this thread:
This is what a 13K engine build gets you....

That is the only way. /sarcasm

I died when I read the cost of his build.

350hp

That is a lot of power for a light car.. I am not the person here with the most experiance, but it would be an easier build to to goto the ls1 build.. I am a bit older than most of the members of these forums, but unless you are a very good driver a power to weight ratio in that range can get you dead quick.. You may be someone that can manage it with no problems, but I have a few friends ( no longer with us) that misjudged their talent.. otherwise cubic inches are cheaper than art..

my car is under 20k including the car (it's a $500 car)

I'm tempted to register on the site and get ready for the part out.

Yeah right. that guy is going to have sex with "mica" every night. If a piston makes it through the oil pan it's just another spot for him to love.

that thread makes me nauseous and disgusted. He went full retard.

not to mention he makes statements like so:

Ok, so now on to your questions/comments for the week:
1.) Quote time: Yep, start your quote early. It isn't so much the overall items that need to be considered - it is actually all the subcomponents that one doesn't necessarily consider. In my case I had already done some extensive mods so a lot of time and effort was put into making sure the next step would work with where the car was already at. If possible, always jump to the last stage of a build rather than building up to it. This way integration is actually less of an issue (imo).
2.) The term "investment": Ah, ok... I wasn't really clear here. Investment usually entails the notion that one is looking to retain or make money on something. It also usually entails the notion that the item invested in WILL be sold int he future... In my case it may be a little more complex than that. I actually consider an investment in terms of what I will get out of an item in the future. This basically boils down to the notion that I will never part with Mica (probably be buried with the car). Thus, investing in her is important so that I will continue to get something (happiness, satisfaction, etc.) in the future. It doesn't hurt to know that she will probably still be worth something in the future (monetarily speaking) but there is no way I am getting my money back out of her. If you want that to a certain degree (perhaps break even? Maybe? Not really...) then you are better off with a LS swap and doing the work yourself (to offset the cost of the swap).
3.) Cost: Yep, the build does include the full stroker (thanks for the confirmation MazdaNoob). The crank alone runs $3K.
He's in it for the long haul.

p.s.I think Brain has a stroker crank in stock pm him if you're interested. It's sitting right next to his previously mentioned adapter plate.

And when all is said and done, he will be left with his thumb up his asshole like 40 grand in the hole wondering why he didn't buy lightly used c6 z06 or something like that.

soviet 12-05-2012 01:47 PM

For $3k I can get a lot of stroke on my crank.

I'd probably consider stroking your crank for $3k.

18psi 12-05-2012 01:53 PM

hell, for 3k I'll hone your combustion chamber

concealer404 12-05-2012 01:57 PM

For $3k i might pre-detonate and blow my rod if i was honing your combustion chamber.

Pen2_the_penguin 12-05-2012 02:03 PM

Don't forget to use some assembly lube at the rimmed tip of my piston... i got a overbored size.
