What tach were you reading from? OEM tach reads almost 200rpm high at 8000.
Why shift above 8000? Stock BP4W head make no power up there.
By "life", I mean still holding <3% leakdown. Still runs and starts but has 15-25% leakdown doesn't count. FWIW, tire BP's tend to run real smooth. Having an effective compression ratio down 1-2 pts from stock will do that.

We decided to do the CNC to stock head comparison with some short duration, medium lift cams. The cams are prototypes of a grind we may offer early next year. We chose to do the A/B with cams simply because there is a bigger difference in flow with cams. Duration should be short enough to idle like stockers but with oh, .060" more lift
Further down the road we may still run an A/B with stock cams.

We won't do the A/B/C you suggested. You'll just have to speculate, be angry, accuse me of various evils, whatever. We'll do A/B with the same custom cams.
Blog, ah. No time or motivation. Facebook really takes the place of the blog for me. I've been sitting on a few ideas for few thousand word essays on a few different auto-motorsport related topics that don't really have a home otherwise.

Hello Emilio
Your CNC heads look amaizing. I will be looking forward to optional cams. I have been wanting to get head work and more agressive cams for my 2000 miata and have been researching what options are out there and the options are hard to find. I found your heads on 959 racing. And then found this thread. Might I suggest creating a youtube video of machining the head to get your product out there? and a group buy would be awsome.
Thanks

Stock cams for now. We're developing optional SuperMiata cams but those are many months away. If "street legal" means passing a sniffer, stick with stock cams. The two simple methods for getting big N/A street torque is displacement and head work. CNC BP6D big valve head, 1952cc displacement on Texas gas tuned to MBT and you'll see 145bs/ft @ 3500 guaranteed. As the stock NB makes more like 112lbs @4800, this is a huge gain and is a blast to drive. On E85 with ceramic coated everything, you're talking 160 lbs/ft @4000 and 180whp on stock cams.
