Best way to go twin turbo?
Which is the best method or way to get twin turbo on my miata swapping engines that are twin turbo or aftermarket twin turbo kits? I like and want twin turbo for its lack of lag. Please do not recommend me turbo kits unless they are twin turbo kits and not single turbo. As for swapping engines make sure you know its a twin turbo engine that fits in the miata engine bay.

I recommend you not start any new threads till you do some searching. A stupid question like this will not be accepted well from a noob that just joined
|
Oh boy, this is going to get ugly.
How much lag do small, single turbo systems, have in your experience? C |
why do you have a crush on twin turbos?
|
even i know this is going to be fun and i'm an idiot
|
Well first of all I have check the threads everyone seem to be going single, I know what I am doing as I have swapped a 2jzgte in my sc300(my first car 450hp) I forgot to mention I am trying to get the highest hp out of it as I can with no or little lag and its a 1.6L engine right now. So I don't want to stick big turbos that will have a lot of lag to get the high hp I want nor do I want the small single ones as I doubt I can get the high hp as I want. So all I want to know is IS there a twin turbo kit for this car or should I just swap a twin turbo engine and WHICH ones will fit?

put down the shrooms man, put down the shrooms
and pic up the search button Or, for starters, figure out that inline fours down have seperate cylinder banks... |

Pics or it didn't happen. One guy here has done twin turbos, search TurboTim user. Don't think you'll see advantages worth the complexity of the setup. EDIT: I have never seen a twin turbo KIT for our cars. |
got a problem with a v-8? ls engines will give you at least as much power as any tt i can think of, and they're proven, with kits available
|
I also swapped a apsdgfpsoibuje-t8y engine into my car. It was fan-fucking-tabulous and made 1000hp.
Pretty sure no one makes a twin turbo kit for our cars. TurboTim is the only one who's made one as far as I know. So it'll all be custom. The little lag benefit of a twin turbo setup is lost when you divide the number of cylinders spinning the turbo in half. In order for only two cylinders to spin a turbo quickly, you'll have to use small ones. You also need smaller turbos in order to fit them in our small engine bays (please oh please don't bring up remote mount turbos). These small turbos will not generate a huge amount of power. The highest hp Miata's (450hp+) are running either a huge single turbo or a V8. None of them are 1.6. I'm not sure a 1.6 has ever made it much past 400hp. If you're building an engine, which you'll have to do to get past 300-350ish hp, build a 1.8 block and buy FM's $185 conversion kit. oh, and SEARCH |
TurboTim might be selling his twin turbo setup. But its for a 1.8l . Contact him.

Jesus tapdancing Christ DO A SEARCH! Plus there is a whole freaking section at miata.net on engine swaps. Try googling V8 Miata.
|
I hate to be one of those "go search" guys, but damn man. Go to google, type "V8 Miata" and you'll get like 125,000 hits, that should get you started.
*ZX-Tex beat me |
that sc300 swap is way easier and more common than putting somwthing like that in a miata, plus the sc was designed to fit a v-8.
and there's no way im telling you where to find v8 miata info |
Do a motherfucking search.
