Boundary Engineering pump gears fitment
Hey guys. I wanted to touch base with y'all in regards to the BE pump gears. I am putting them in a friends engine that i am building. He had a great condition VVT pump already, just needed the upgraded gears. When test fitting, the BE inner rotor wont slide all the way onto the crank. While the stock inner rotor slides all the way on without a problem. This concerns me because there should be some ability for that rotor to float so that it does not get pulled back and forth with crankshaft thrust. I assume they tighten to tolerences to make a stronger gear but this is a bit too tight it seems. anyone else experience this issue? I would rather not have to do any work to the crank to make them fit. I will be emailing BE tomorrow but wanted to check here first since i have seen that there are a few here that have them. Thanks for your replys.

This may not be related but you mention that you are replacing the gears in a VVT pump but when I last spoke with BE they did not offer just the gears for the VVT pump, only the regular. Maybe that could be causing the issue although I'd think it would have the opposite problem as the VVT is a little thicker?

After discussing this with BE and sending them measurements, it is still unlear exactly what the problem is. The tolerences SHOULD be ok, but there might be something tapered or out of round i think. However BE is awesome and is sending out a new set of the in house built gears to me and i am returning these. Major props to them and the support.

Yes they do; Mazda\Ford BP Oil Pump Gears ? Boundary price is higher for the VVT gears but they do offer them. The page is a bit confusing but if you select "yes" under VVT it get's you to the right one.
