Colt Cam Re-grinds
I just got off the phone with Geoff at Colt Cams in Aldergrove, BC. They are offering (and have been already quietly for a while) cams for both the BP and B6. I am going to be the first to run his tri-flow cam (staggered intake valve opening) on a boosted 1.6L miata. They are hugely popular in the local Honda crowd and have recently taken off in the Ford Probe community (his new Tri-flow) design. The basic gist is it helps create more power/flow up top without sacrificing as much bottom end power. Honda OEM has been doing this as well as Cosworth in the past.
Just though I would give another option to the miata community here. I'll post up results once they are made and the car is tuned but that won't be until Feb.
Also, his pricing is VERY good. Much better than Integrals. If you're looking for cams I would suggest giving him a call and seeing what he can make for you (he does custom stuff as well). He also offers a street grind and other non "tri-flow" cams.
I'd be very interested to see these Tri-Flow cams on a high-comp N/A build. I will be using them on a solid lifter, ported head w/ os valves on a Rotrex powered engine.
For those interested in what the Tri-Flow is... read up. He also offers regular grinds (I.E. not, staggered intake valve opening). The Tri-flow is quite popular in the boosted Honda crowd as well, so it's not an "N/A only."

Intake Primary: 278 Duration, .340 Lift
Intake Secondary: 262 Duration, .335 Lift
Exhaust: 274 Duration, .333 Lift
Did I mention that this cam was designed to be drop in? With stock valvetrain and hydraulic lifters. Pricing is around $5xx for a set for the Tri-flows and less for the standard grinds.
I'd be really interested to see someone with a stock engine or even a moderatley boosted car with past dyno numbers to try this cam out and see the hard data.

As for lift, I thought the same when I first looked at the specs but from the bit of reading I've done over the last week I've come to the conclusion that overall lift is not everything. It has a lot to do with lift/duration at different points on the cam (.050 spec) and how fast the cam opens/closes and holds the valve open. Someone correct me if I'm wrong?
If you're interested in this cam, do what I did and do some googling on Colt Cams, and the Tri-Flow design. There is a fair amount of info on them out there on a large amount of Honda/Ford forums.

I am gonna be all over this for sure. When i had my 1.6 i dropped in a set of hks 256s and picked up 14.9whp on a dyno jet and since i swapped to a 1.8l i have been wishing for a nice set of fair priced cams + with those specs power gain should be significantly higher.

I'm not sure, give them a ring. I only inquired about the 1.6L for the specifics.
Not sure, but if you want a VVT cam email Ocean at Chikara Motorsports. He has been working on (and running his cam) in his shop car for a while. Maruha also offers a VVT cam. IIRC he also offers CNC VVT heads?

Sign up for MazdaComp. 16 Solid lifters are $160. Supertech makes a 5.5mm lash cap for $4. Using the 5.5mm lash cap allows you to use the cap sitting on the lifter rather than having to get the 99 spec retainer clips (expensive) which use a 6mm lash cap and sit on the top of the valve stem.
All in all, a solid lifter conversion should cost around $230 if you do it yourself. Doing the $4 5.5mm Supertech lash caps rather than the $14 Mazdacomp ones.

All of his parts are top notch, and have been proven to make big power for N/A applications. The $700 suspension bushings are no more than what a set of MazdaComp would cost. On any car other than a Miata, you would be paying $1700 for a race clutch. Hell.. my OS Giken was $2200 for the GTR I built. But you get what you pay for.
A lot of the parts on the site have not been updated in a long time. Many of the parts are purely there in case someone wants them, he does not stock everything. His own in house (I.E. NOT Maruha) is very inexpensive. I got my brake lines from him for $110.
Anyways, I would know better than anyone else here since I'm having a whole engine built there right now. He is not as expensive as everyone thinks. I went there out of curiosity, figured he was out of my budget but when we sat down and discussed what I wanted to do we made a plan and put together a package that worked for me.
Anyways... just to be clear I'm not trying to get in an argument or pissing match. I'm just saying that it pays to inquire directly. I already talked to him about trying to advertise his stuff a bit more accurately but with being a two person operation they are both extremely busy in the shop and don't have time to do the site right now.
If you wanted a CNC port job.. or cams, email or call him. You would be quite surprised as to how much it is. And in a good way.
