You guys are funny. "Tires are too close to the fender, car is suddenly useless" it's fine, the suspension is actually engineered and set up properly for what I'm doing and uses quality parts everywhere except the dampers aren't the best. It's probably one of the better chassis setups in amatuer drifting to be honest but yes my tires are close to the fender. Whoops. Not mad, don't care, it's just funny

K-sport, lol. It's funny because I tell everyone my car has K-sport shocks so they don't steal it.

Seriously
I'm pretty smuckers over the coolant lines.

Thanks dude.

And honestly I'm the first to admit the ksport thing and that they are junk. However this set of shocks is the "high end" of their dampers and in 4 years haven't blown and still dampen to some extent. The car was sponsored by them and they were free so for what they are I have no complaints.

The only rubber left in my suspension is my front control arms. Everything else is all custom built from quality spherical bearings. It's a very compliant suspension even with the fact that it's "way too low to drive as super ricey"

Again I know I have no fans of that here I only post to dusplay how stupid I want to get with a 1.6

Full_Tilt_Boogie 02-06-2013 01:39 PM

Naw, its cool we get it.
Suspension travel is only important if you want to be fast. You obviously dont want to be fast and just want to look cool. Now we know, and can carry on from here with that understanding.

theshdwconspracy 02-06-2013 01:41 PM

Explain to me how my car doesn't have suspension travel

18psi 02-06-2013 01:45 PM

Many things on this car are pretty sweet, I gotta admit.

But

the suspension is actually engineered and set up properly for what I'm doing and uses
This made me almost spit up my coffee:laugh:

No sense in getting mad... drifting is really just to look cool anyways. :bowrofl:

That said... you, and those making fun of you both have good points. You're limiting your travel purely by how low you are, not necessarily because of mechanical limitations (speaking strictly in terms of things that actually move). You travel a lot, your tire rips apart your body, or the body rips apart your tire. Or your frame hits the ground, making it a bump stop from hell.

However, ASSuming you designed your arms and such remotely well, you certainly might not be running into the same problems that the less fortunate and educated are, who are still running rubber/poly bushings. You might have corrected geometry issues, but haven't done much to actually let you travel a large distance.

what he's saying is you don't NEED suspension travel.

or suspension altogether actually, for what you're doing.

you could run steel tubes bolting chassis-to-control arms and "suspension design" would be optimal:giggle:

hustler 02-06-2013 02:00 PM

You baby-Hustler's bitches troll the wrong kind of people sometimes. Theshadowconspiracy is clearly not a full-blown ------ like some newbs. At least he's out drifting the car (full homo) rather than hardparking and running his mouth.

Basically, leave the e-thuggery for the men on the forum, bitches.

They're probably "blown" meaning the seals are dead...but there is still some pressure/rebound force.

Quit blabbing about my idea! I revealed that in confidence, and I haven't filed the patent application yet!

I totally lost it on that as well.

:noob:

But, I really lost it when I saw a 1.6L motor.

Maybe he wants to join the south Florida crew.

I decided to continue updating this for you guys, because you love it so much.

I did some test fitting so i can see what my car could look like if I actually start working on it.

ooooooooooooooooo duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude that is sooo ephing tyyyttteee!!!

j/k this shit made me laugh when I first realized you were doing it. Nice work though. At least you have something to show for your work (a funny walk from your nightly prostate exams). I absolutely can't stand all those stupid CR guys though in all seriousness and it's cool to see it coming along even though i'd never own anything close to this. Most of those fags get scared off pretty easily and that's because they are all talk day dreamers. Way to be of action!

We all make fun of drifters because the crowd really is garbage. Also it's judged like ice skating... Anyway.... I'm pretty sure we all like getting a little sideways sometimes.

Joe Perez 02-09-2013 12:24 AM

You can never have too much iron ore...

concealer404 02-11-2013 09:48 AM

This hurts my head.

Don't get me wrong, it all looks very well done, despite the drift hate...

But seriously. I have a fucking migraine and my nose is bleeding.

I got significantly closer this weekend to finishing the car, even though it doesn't look like much. I took the car over to my buddy Joe's house and finished the rest of the fabrication that needs to take place on the chassis. Everything except my fan shroud from here on out just requires buying shit. Car only needs a driveshaft and the powersteering lines now. George will be wiring soon hopefully and we can start the car and get it tuned blown up.

Mounted my mr2 ps pump. The bracket is really simple and super awesome. This is the best placement we could come up with on the car without putting it in the trunk. Going to run the PS cooler just in front of the pump, where the existing brackets already exist.

The diff is in the car as well. Boxed in the front diff mount with like 1/4" steel so that its now a solid mount. I also flipped the solid diff bushings upside down so that i could run the diff as high as possible (~1/2" higher). The front mount still worked with no modification for the height difference. Make sure that if you run the bushing flipped like this that you add washers or thread the mounts higher, because without the bottom rubber piece the nut will pass the threaded part and get stuck, if you're unlucky like me.

you can see the front mount in this super shitty picture

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1364066030

We also mounted the gas tank, since i cut out the spare tire well, and fixed the hole george left in the floor from crashing this car so much, but those suck to look at so there aren't any pictures.

The car is all complete now, just waiting for wiring (this weekend) and paint.

Nothing crazy is happening but my interior is complete now. I'm more stoked on my interior than the rest of my car. I'm down to paint and wiring and a little body work. Power steering just needs two more lines to be run, and I'm waiting on the last fitting for that. The rest is just fitting the kit, and getting up the motivation to sand it in 100 degree heat.
