Default Ecoboost Head on Mazda MZR Block?

Has anyone tried it?

I found one guy who was checking the compatibility of parts between Ecoboost and Mazda LF, but he hadn't bolted anything together and ran it yet... Another who was only looking at rotating parts.

Specifically, I need the Ecoboost head to bolt on to the 2.0 from an Mx5. I might settle for a 2.3 Ranger block... Any other RWD MZR's or Duratecs?

Taking that one step further, I'd want to swap in the 2.3 Ecoboost rotating assembly to the 2.0 Mazda (or other rwd mzr) block, but the deck heights are different... 2.3 EB Ford is open deck FWIW, vs the closed LF 2.0, not sure about 2.0 EB.

Yes, I am brain damaged and have twisted goals... You don't even want to know the car I want to put it in... . But I promise I will share if it ever sees the light of day!

TIA amd happy motoring!

Check out Track NC miata on FB

Why not just run the 2.5?? Bottom end good for a solid 300-350 Wheel Torque and the head is actually really good. Not quiet K series, but pretty close.

Thank you for the lead.

I need to use a block that came in a RWD vehicle for rules purposes. I then would be using the matching transmission as well.

I want the engine to be an Ecoboost, not just an aftermarket turbo Mazda. There are a lot of advantages short term and long term i plan to run an ecoboost Mustang.

It should fit but I'm not sure how timing chain would work if you didnt use a block with a deck height that matched the head you picked. You're also not fitting an ecoboost head into a miata without some serious work, the high pressure fuel pump is going to be inside the HVAC box even if you put the block where I did (moved the rack forward). Honestly the money you'll spend on oem parts trying to figure out how to mix and match some **** together (remember you need direct injection style pistons too) you'd be better off finding a mustang 2.3.
