Default Engine ID questions.

Purchased a motor out of a '91 BRG, with a VIN that indicated it was a long nose. Take a look at the motor today and the pulley (8 slots) verified that it was long nose, as did the size/type of bolt. So look over the motor to discover that it has neither the oil or coolant port on the hot side. So I look over the motor looking for a vin plate and can't find anything. My understanding that somewhere on the oil pan there is a plate, although I've never seen one.

So what the heck is this thing? I can only assume that it was a replacement crate motor. Are there any other applications where a 1.6 doesn't have the ports on the hotside? Tomorrow I will have pictures.

I don't care really since all I want is a log nose motor. Planning to do a build over the winter with forged rods (at a minimum).

Perhaps some of the replacement motors left them out as you stated. Quite odd.
