Has anyone tried to use this twin scroll housing?

How would this setup run with a t3 quick spool valve? Did I miss a thread talking about this?

 

IMO, that's too much A/R for that turbo on our engines.

 

Can you get a smaller A/R twinscroll housing for it though? I have only seen the EFRs .92 and the Garretts .82 - I'd like to see something like .70 A/R to increase flow but not sacrifice spool. 350hp with a 3k spool.. Am I dreaming the impossible? Probably. Has anyone aftermarket tried this?

 

Not impossible, EFR6758 or 6258.

 

+1. A stroker and a 6758 would give you those power numbers and big torque at 3k too.

 

I'm not sure the stroker is entirely necessary to have a power band that starts at 3k with a small EFR.

 

Soviet's 6758 was seeing peak torque at ~3900rpm. If you really want to make big torque at 3k, you'll want the stroker. Whether or not those few hundred RPM of powerband is worth the extra $4k+ is up to you, though.

 

If you're seeing over 200wtq before 3k you are making serious torque.
His 6258 was seeing well over that well before 3k. I'd say that is serious torque.
Spend the 4k on hookers and blow

I still wish BorgWarner had gone through with a twinscroll housing for the 6758. Or maybe an aftermarket vendor..

 

Its coming. Its will totally be an option on the 7163, that is for certain. Which means they'll have the correct size for the 6758.

 

I've been planning on running the 7163 TS with quick spool for awhile now. Fitment is the only issue. QSVs are pretty thick.

i dont, but all you need is a twin scroll housing and a single scroll manifold. ATP makes twin scroll housings for 3071R. Oh well i got N20 coming

FWIW qsv's don't work in a track car from what I've heard, they can't take the punishment. Whether you would be beating on it long enough for that to matter I don't know...

 

Very true words, some claim they can. Not worth the risk though. But for street driving and occasional events they are fine.
Though I have to look into how/why they fail, if vibration = **** for us.

 

Look back in faeflora's build thread - the company that made his made a more durable model that should handle more punishment than the previous revisions. Not sure if it's holding up for him though..
