Can the stock head bolts be re-used?
|
I find this thread to be hilarious.
It's 15.5mm 17point. I have absolute authority on this. |

For your moderator rights, I'm starting to concur. wtf is this 14mm business?! |
I've said 12mm all along, I don't know what you're talking about. Where are my pills?

Aren't they stretch bolts that shouldn't be re-used? Or can they be?

Thanks.

i didn't think they were torque to yield.
but i replaced mine with arp studs anyway |
Braineack and I have both reused stock head bolts on 1.6 motors. I see no reason why you could not reuse them. I would still recommend changing to ARP studs if you are doing an engine build.
|
I've reused stock 12.7 point 12 mm bolts on my turbo 2000.
|
Ok, so now that's been answered , how long will it take to take head off w/ the motor out of the car? I'll keep IM attached.
|
30min or so. Pretty easy.
|
As long as it takes to remove 10 bolts and lift.
|
So just because Curly demanded a recount here is another video to show the correct size.

Nice video Lars. |
Ok, last question:
If I separate the block and head, will it fit in the back of a Honda Civic? Thanks |

Baa, I am sad at the youtube copyright nazi's. I spent a good 10 minutes in Movie Maker making that fantastic movie.
