Default How to drive External Gated setup on stock ecu.

Hey guys,

Any experience with removing the springs and driving sensibly?

With an internal gate its very easy to disconnect the actuator and wire the gate open, on an external can i simply remove the spring and drive sensibly?

Dann

Just take the spring out of the top of the WG and the exhaust pressure will blow the wastegate wide open. It will not spool, even if you beat on it.

Beautiful, thankyou.

Even with a little 38mm gate on a GT42r?

Should I grease the moving parts or anything? Guess not it will be 600*.

Thanks,
Dann

I wouldnt be reving out a high gear or anything, but in my experience taking the spring out of a 38mm Tial will prevent the turbo form spooling in low gears even when going WOT.
Leave the charge pipes hooked up though, if it does get spinning you dont want it unrestricted or it could overspin.

With a GT42r I believe you could have the wastegate held closed and you'd be fine if you kept it under 8k rpm.
