that's why I have the two close up shots of the pulleys. I held the camera straight on and made sure not to angle it at all.
IIRC, thats about where y8s has his deadtime set for RC550s. even still, all the deadtime does is add an artbitrary number to the end of your calculated pulse witdh. even if set incorrectly, the car will run normally if you've tuned your req_fuel and VE table for it.

That makes sense. http://injector-rehab.com/shop/lag.html
From the dead time thread. I am wondering if you were on the right track, but went the wrong direction with your dead times. What happens if you shorten your deadtime and adjust your VE table to compensate?

trigger offset will NOT correct the incorrect installation of the timing belt on the crank pulley. you'll still have both cams advanced by a tooth.
and I should point out that advancing my intake cam with the VVT causes the idle to suck hard nuts.

justs fwiw, the idle is no better with this slight varience (if any) then when the crank was pointing at 10° when the cams were in alignment...
But I can easily go back out and make sure to reset it and see what happens.

ah yes.
but how could it be off a tooth if there at 19 teeth between the marks...maybe i just need to tighten the tensioner more? that would ultimately bump the mark back...but it is still possible the crank is off 2° (1 tooth worth?) when the cams are aligned. I'll report back when i become unlazy enough to reset it.

I'm starting to get interested in this again because that is exactly how my cam marks look and of course my idle has always been exactly like yours right now.
I dont know how many times i've done the timing belt on B6 engines, like practically a million. I am never able to get the marks any better than that and still have 19 teeth between the cogs. In the car or out it doesn't matter, I can never get any better.
