Don't think there is one? Though I'm not au-fait with the MK2.5 motor so may well have missed it. I'll have a proper look tomorrow evening, I need to strip bits off it ready for install onto my car.

So by what I could find, all VVT equipped 1.8L engines that were not sold in the US market came with this intake manifold.

Dammit, I want one. Be easier than pulling mine apart and gutting the butterflies. I'm going to see if I can get a part number tomorrow...and a price.

Title over picture...
this is the 1.6

I don't really know much about the 1.6 engine at all. I have wondered if they updated the later 1.6 with solid lifters though (anyone know?) It looks like a completely different beast... CAS is on the front of the CAM cover like the 99/00 1.8L, no weird IAC stuck to the side of the manifold. I'd imagine the later 1.6 intake flows better considering how Mazda revised the 1.8 I don't see why they wouldn't revise the 1.6 knowing that it was going to be sold in large numbers for years to come.

Cracked open the manifold.

There's no VICS, VTCS nothing, just an empty plenum.

Garage is lit only with fluorescent tubes and so lighting wasn't great. Plus it's my iPhone taking the pictures. Last pic I had a torch trying to light up the insides

Emilio said that the TB has less obstructed flow to the plenum, possibly making more power. I think he's putting it on the OGK but he'd need to verify that.

I wonder how hard it would be to get ahold of this manifold.

I'm already working on this. If there is even a slight benefit to be had, I'd imagine many of us here would be interested and so would those guys the run things like CSP class autoX.

I wonder if the runners are a different diameter as well, they look bigger. And if anything, the reduced mass saves a little weight as well.

Yeah, basically all of the top CSP cars don't use IRTBs. They run the stock manifold. If there was gains on this manifold they would definately jump on it. At least I would lol.

Let us know if you find any "hook-ups" for this manifold.

They run modified stock modified manifolds. The ones I've seen open up the throat at the TB to allow a better flow in.

Yup, known as "throating" the manifold. I have pictures of an intake a friend of mine did that too.

Awwwwwwww *****!!! Phat JDM manifoldd yo!

Why do we care? I can't see the big awesome plenum. Wait, there is none.

This is cool buttfuck where the hell is a good 1.8 aftermarket manifold? Should I be inspired by the engineering fail pdf and make one out of a 2 liter bottle and pvc pipe? That would work actually wouldn't it...

when you get a moment, get some pictures of the head flange of the intake manifold.

so we can compare like this:

99-00 VICS manifold:

2001+ VTCS manifold:

2001+ RS/JDM/non USDM manifold with nothing:

[insert richyvrlimited picture here]
