I built an AWD miata once using the SHO Boss 302 vortec heads with titanium buckets and carbon fiber push-rods, on a mustang 3.8 block (for the extra displacement) using a Triton crank to further up the displacement and allow for more revs.

Make sure you get the limited edition mazdaspeed awd transmission. It had an extra gear. It would light all the tires up in all 7 gears. And for those 10 seconds, I was free.

Well I didn't have the money for slicks, and kept R12 in my A/C system. It's denser and makes the A/C compressor have to work harder, robbing power. Once I get my last paycheck from Hyvee (my LAST, **** that place, I got hired at apple bees) and my mom loans me some cash to pay my insurance so I can drive it again, I'm going to buy some slicks and I'm pretty sure I'll go 9's, maybe even 8's if I can keep the vacuum leak from stalling me at the light..

Plus you gotta work the Vin Diesel angle

Don't forget that you have to run a MoTEC exhaust to get the most gain from your TURBO kits.

If I was going to redo it I'd just get a Spoon Sr20.

Hi, and welcome to the forum!

As turbine efficiency has significantly increased over the years, a turbocharging method less stressful on the "internal pieces" has become viable. The modernized chinese turbochargers are a great choice for inexpensive horsepower without needing to replace the expensive pistons, rods, camshafts, or crankshafts. It's really simple once you realize horsepower is just about flow and not BOOOSSTT like all these darn "tuner-heads" trying to sell you overpriced forged engine internals would have you believe. By mounting the turbocharger on the intake side of the engine instead of the exhaust you relieve the engine internals from the extra "boost" pressure that breaks and destroys engines while still increasing flow with a "turbo vacuum" that is much better for your engine while still making 4 times the stock horsepower.

You can find the correct modernized chinese turbocharger for as little as $200. Reverse turbocharging is a big hit with the racing community, but it's still kind of a "new thing" so some of the needed parts are hard to find for the miata. However, I am a certified GTAW welder and have a fully capable fabrication shop and am looking for someone with a miata to develop a reverse turbo kit with. I have a kit I developed installed on my BMW 3 series convertible and I beat Corvettes ALL DAY. Let me know if you're interested, I'll only charge you ~$100 for the cost of materials!
