What's it like to spend a ton of money on a car to make 300whp?

I don't need that much therapy yet. Maybe in a few years.

IDK. I saw what you just did to your house and that was much worse than I did to my car. That was a rebuild I would not have endeavored to execute.

I've also owned 3 turbo Miatas, and working on the house was/is way more fun. (This isn't even my final form!)

One detail I do like is how they made the PPF brace adapter for the transmission. Something like that would be nice for the Getrag boxes.

My DPE disagrees. I wouldn't have done anything different, just add $10k to add reliable turbo.

My DPE with you disagrees. You do get DP'd.

Pardon my lack of knowledge on this. But does anyone actually have first hand knowledge about that motor? Or are we just trashing this motor for the lulz?

They do.

And the people writing the article were pretty clear the engine sucks and they didn't understand the swap. That's MOTORTREND not being diplomatic and saying it is a foolish idea, which doesn't happen often.

I killed two of them in my bone stock automaric 99 outback. First one had a massive rear main seal leak at 80k (like people asking if it's on fire at the gas ststion level of leak onto the exhaust), it's headgaskets go at 113k, had that fixed, camshaft seized at 118k. Second one was a professional rebuilt engine. That one lasted 48k and spun a rod bearing just driving down the road. Car had regular 5k mile oil changes and filters with either mobile one or GTX full synthetic.

I saw that article yesterday and showed that to a coworker who is a adamant subaru guy and he shrugged it off as dumb unless you could do AWD.
The one good thing I did see is the swap kit runs $900 and the motors should be able to be found for cheaps.

Yeah 900 to literally just mount the motor and trans. So basically a little less than it costs to mount an LS. The mounting and engine are never the expensive or hard part of a swap. I'd honestly rather have a BP, and that's saying something lolol

I really love subies.. but this is just terrible. Literally the worst thing about the BRZ/FRS is the motor..
