Yes undertray.
I thought that turbo Miata should be able to cool itself at highway speeds with undertray but no fans? I have heard it said that fans are for parking lot speeds.
Am I wrong?
Radiator was cake install btw. Hardest part was installing the new hoses. Wiring was cut and spliced to make a pretty install as well.

In talking with FM last time i was out there, they said that their airflow testing showed that the fan was pretty much necessary at highway speeds as well due to poor flow design of the bumper. Adding an intercooler in front makes things worse.

I am going to change my fan temps to 200;210 with a 5 degree hysterisis and I will report back when I have driven a bit more. I know it's my thread but I don't want to divert the intent too much longer.
Intercooler needs to be back away from the bumper mouth enough so that most of the air goes around it and not through it. If you have the intercooler blocking the airflow into the bumper mouth you are creating a large obstruction and the car will overheat. BTDT. After I moved my intercooler back toward the radiator cooling improved substantially.
Yeah, I saw that too.
For the record, guys, fans should never be needed when cruising at highway speeds. If they are needed then your factory ducting is missing, your homemade ducting is bad, your bumper mouth is clogged with a poorly positioned intercooler, or you have some other problem.

Hey, all i know is what i was told. And that my **** couldn't keep up on the highway with the Mishi fans, but was fine around town. Was fine everywhere after the SPAL fan upgrade.
Anecdotes FTW!
