Also wanted to note that I jumped the right wires per the VVT megathread. (just for reference)

Back to the school room with you. The MS needs RPM input to properly time injection and spark. Thats cam and crank. **** your tach. It doesn’t matter. You could turn it off, cut the wires, and set it on fire. MS will still run. It’s been such a long time, but I’m fairly certain the jumper is to allow the coil signal from
the MS to properly drive the dash tach, back when megasquirts didn’t have tach outputs. So in your case, not needed.

Run a composite log and see if you’re missing crank or cam signal, then start diagnosing that. If there’s no RPM signal showing in tuner studios, it’s probably your crank sensor/wiring/etc.

I will over lunch today. I was confusing tach for not just display tach but what the ECU would use to see RPM so this clears it up for me. Thank you!

Started and idling rough but it started! It was a crossed 12v and ground on the Camshaft sensor!

Thanks an absolute fuckton for the pointer. I thought I had double checked all the wiring but I guess I just missed the easiest to access sensor!
