Default Oil ports don't line on on block/head

Hey guys, I'm putting a VVT head onto a VVT block and the rear holes for what I think is the oil drain doesn't line up. Headgasket is on correctly, but it doesn't line up.

The holes on Cylinder 2 and 3 line up, but 1 and 4 do not.

Is this by design, perhaps to restrict oil flow out of the head? Or is there a problem?

If you have a coolant reroute, consider using a 1999-2000 head gasket. I think that is still the preferred approach.

If you don’t have a reroute, you should; and if your engine is out, now is the best time to do it.

Wait, shouldn't ANY 1.8 headgasket work (outside of NB2's)? I'm hoping I didn't order a wrong headgasket for my vvt build.

I think they are all the same from '94 - '00, but was not certain, so I played it safe.

It should probably look and lay down like this but someone should validate that since I have a different setup.
