so it seems as though the boundary pump is consistantly showing lower hot idle oil pressure than stock. Mine is 10-12 as read with a bosch gauge. that is with 10w40.

I've emailed Savington asking about it, it seems a bunch of us are having similar results with the boundary pump. 10-12 with 10w-40 seems to be consistent with me having 8-10 with 10w-30. It's curious that you guys haven't had any engine issues, how many miles have you driven with the pump?

- I've been on the BE since mid 2015, guessing at about 12k since rebuild.
- The old STRI X-Line read about 20 at idle, then failed.
- OEM gauge hasn't read any differently.
- New STRI DSD SLM II reads 10-12.
- Rotella T610w-40

VVT angle swings and oscillates at idle, target is pretty steady, angle improves with higher pressure after about 2000rpm.

i dont seem to have any problems with VVT actual position versus target.

Interesting update. I've been leaking oil and found that i had installed a bad valve cover gasket. It must have jumped out as i put it on the head and tightened the cover down. A small piece is nissing and either fell out of the engine when i lifted the cover off or it had already fallen into the head and possibly gotten sucked into the oil system.

Okay so VC gasket has been replaced, i tested oil pressure with a $25 amazon test kit, first test was same oil nothing added, low pressure even below temp. I was able to get the sensor out through the passenger side wheel well, that was enormously relieving because I didn't have to take my VICS manifold off. Second test was with 4 quarts of 10w-40, immediately had higher pressure at same temperature, I think my volume was low because I had been losing oil through the valve cover for a few days. Swapped digital gauge back in and went for a drive to get oil up to temp. Best I could do was 200* because roads are wet and traffic is heavy, knees weak arms spaghetti. At around 190-200* oil pressure was steady around 10 psi, with the oscillations to about 800 it didn't go lower than about 6 psi or so for the brief moment the rpms were that low. A few random dips to 500-600 rpm read no lower than 4 psi but rpms immediately went back up to normal range. If you guys have been running the same pump with similar pressures and no issues then I think I'm fine. I'm happy with the heavier oil weight, next change will be the real stuff, probably rotella T6 since that's what everyone seems to run - I picked up Napa stuff today because that's all they had in 40 weight.

Yes, I do feel better after conferring with you guys. When it drops pressure it's only briefly, it doesn't stay low and I have good pressure when driving. Salt accepted.

This is also very relieving for me too as i was worried sick about this! Especially since my first engine had an oil pump failure.

I autocrossed on Sunday and oil temp was around 210* after finishing and pressure stayed at around 10 with only a few dips. I shut it off and let it cool and on startup had good pressure 10-12.
