I think they're perfectly fine in my tractor motor.

Sorry to necro this thread but I wanted to give thanks for it and also ask a dumb question or two.

Anyway, I'm removing my squirters. Especially in light of what the #3 squirter did.

How does this sound for a set of block-off bolts?
M10x1.25x10mm bolt + lock washer + regular washer

or should I just go bolt + copper washer

I was thinking red loctite on the threads and for torque something like 25 ft lbs, which is roughly double factory spec.

I figure it's safer to ask a dumb question now than choose badly and have to deal with this bullshit twice.

I would do high grade bolt, new copper crush washer, clean threads very well on bolt and block to remove ALL oil, let dry very well, red lock tite, torque the crap out of it.

Use a copper crush washer and red lock tight. don't torque the **** out of it, it just crushes the crush washer more if you do and it might fail. Crush washer garrantees fluid seal

This is what I did on the last set I pulled (I typically run them). Use standard torque specs for the thread size and pitch (there are lookup tables everywhere).

found mine in local hardware shop. Don't you have access to a machine shop? I'm sure you can figure something out.

WTF, why do they want that much for a bolt? It's not even AN.

Because m10 are generally longer. It doesn't even matter though. Just cut longer one down. It's not like it's going to rust in an oil galley. Or stainless if your engine will sit.

Still crazy that they ask that much. Finding an m10x1.25 flanged stainless bolt isn't the easiest thing either. My local ace didn't have em. Going to try Fastenal next.

Not surprised that Ace didn't have them, metric bolts are still specialty items in US hardware stores for no reason I can figure out.

OTOH, 30 seconds with Google and:

That's ridiculous. I thought they were 1.5 thread pitch and bought some from mcmaster-Carr the other day. They don't have 1.25 in anything shorter than 16mm though :(

Let me know what you find. If nothing else I will buy the 16mm and grind them down.
