cost vs. benefit puts the eagles ahead by a mile.

Your stockers are just fine, When you run too much boost they have a failsafe that allows them to bend and lower your compression.

Very simple.

Eagles are inexpensive, can tolerate high horsepower, but are heavy. The problem with heavy, is that they can rob some of that horsepower.

Carrillos are expensive, can tolerate high horsepower, but are light. They will not rob as much power as the Eagles. It cost money to make a rod very strong and very light.

That is all the spoon feeding you will get.

His set-up is queer and stupid.

I run China rods in my car at 230whp, I've run the same rods at 300whp at the track and they get the job done. 949 and M-tuned both sell good rods on the cheap.

Hustler did you guys remove the search button as i know if i had it i could have found all this info with out making a noob post.

To OP the best setup for your motor would to be take the pistons and rods and swap them out for rotors.

I did search but it didn't give me specific opinions on the two brands I named. I was trying to decide on building my 1.6 with eagle rods and wiseco piston which everything would come up to around $1500 or buy a 1.8 with carillo rods and wiseco pistons and rings in it already. I do search but if I can't find something I'm specifical looking for I ask and hopefully someone can quickly answer or post a link where I can find an answer. I'm just sayin.

Go on to ebay and type in miata wiseco pistons and eagle rods, u can get a brand new set of both for around $800. Or at least thats what i did and it worked out fine.... except for the wrist pin not fitting the rods so i had to get them bored out which wasnt a big deal.

There is more then just two companies making rods.
I like Pauter.

Stock on the left, Pauter on the right.

Why, because they're $1000 and the $300 rods get the job done?

Aricjm has a good point there are 7 companies off the top of my head who make rods for the miata motor carrillo, eagle, k1, belfab, toga, toda, pauter, and more who make rods for the miata motor.

I have even seen cx racing making rods for the miata. Would i run them hell no but just to put it out there.

Also look at what you plan on building, if your looking to make 200-300whp in your miata no need for carrillo rods. Unless you track it then i could see a need for lighter rods.
