Congrats on having a good job at 18, but maybe a bit of extra schooling wouldn't have hurt.

And no, none of us would attempt an SR20 swap because we aren't angry 18-year-old children.

Look i understand that a sr20 swap is a little extreme but im not an angry 18 year-old maybe a little upset because of the responses telling me im stupid for thinking of it and i should just mod my 1.6.
To be honest even if i mod my 1.6 it would cost me alot of money getting stuff shipped from the U.S to Canada because we have to pay the duties on almost everything we buy unless its listed as a gift on the package, SR parts are more readily available here and i know more Nissan guys than i do Mazda guys (people who mod their cars unlike the people at the dealership)

Now I know you haven't read anything. No self-respecting MT.neter would recommend modding your 1.6. They would tell you to swap in a 1.8.

Now stop posting like a petulant child and start reading. I'd start in the Build Threads section.

You aren't stupid for considering it. You are stupid for asking us about it before doing any research. Which had you done any research, you would find that if it isn't an aluminum block GM V8, the swap isn't worth it.

look i have grown up around v8's all my life and i have the only 4 cylinder car in my house, in all of my family(mom and dads side) everyone else is rocking a v8 this or that, so i personally am sick of v8's plus here there isnt even 1 SR swapped miata around

please look again i believe i was told to mod my 1.6 about 3 times or more on the first or second page

the main reason for asking about the SR swap is because i can pick one up dirt cheap it just needs a head gasket which is not too hard the hardest part of the swap is going to be the wiring harness

Oh, so you are just doing this to be different? Let me guess, you also have 0-offset xxrs, a hardtop spoiler, turn signal intakes, etc. because you want your car to be 'unique'.

I did look. The ONE guy who said that has 7 posts. Hardly a stunning recommendation.

Yes, we all know that. Which is why literally everyone is telling you it's a bad idea. Lots of headache for street cred and no performance gain over a turbo BP.

If you want to be different for the sake of being different, Clubroadster is thataway->

That's not a bad option.

IMO if it doesn't say "Honda" on it or if it isn't a V8 then what's the point. Our 1970's truck engines are ancient but they do like boost.

But you work for a Mazda dealership and can't find a good deal on a 1.8? I'm surprised.

They put 1.8 BP engines in Kia Sephias and Proteges too.

Why do you guys persist in trying to **** off new people?

Dann constantly gets harrassed, the Aussie guy Lightspeed started to get harrassed and various others who have ended contributing good info and projects or requiring sensible advice here also get more than a little ribbing.

For christ sake make the jokes but back the **** off a bit aye?

This forum will die or get stale without new people. How the hell do you keyboard warriors "know" he isn't a qualified mechanic because he's "only" 18?

Talk about arrogant.

How do we know the OP isn't the next Lightspeed or Fae (wait not Fae... well sort of Fae) anyway, you get the idea...

Where are the admins to curtail this over the top atitude....?

To the OP, drop this thread. Take a step back, a deep breath and try again. There are plenty of helpfull people here, believe it or not.

Once again, flame away.

Because we won't give him bad advice?

No one is stopping him from doing what he wants. He could of not posted this thread and did it anyway then no one here would of given a ****.

Plus by deductive reasoning, we have found out that there is NO way OP could be a seasoned experienced master mechanic. Then he would know the SR and BP are practically the same iron 4 cylinder shitbox engines. Also swapping isn't like just plopping it in and going for a drive. Anyone who looked at how the powertrain of a Miata was setup could tell you that.

Oh yeah, i forgot. Even clubroadster thinks it's a stupid as **** idea... http://clubroadster.net/vb_forum/74-...sr20-swap.html

That's saying something.

Not to de rail the thread BUT calling someone a liar, a troll and whtever else was said or implied is just not necessary and is not exactly trying to tell him he is on the wrong track in a manner conducive to getting the advice taken onboard.....

Your a liar and a troll but take what I say as gospel......hmmm, yeah that'l work.

Besides which a SR20DET powered MX5 is one of the quicker ones in our little slice of heaven, NZ. So it's not like it's impossible or completely a waste....

anyway, I am out on the forum sherrif part .

Hope to see this thread carry on anyway.

If ClubRoadster is against an SR20 swap, that should REALLY speak volumes.

I'm against an SR20 swap AND drivel. Put them together and i'd like to nuke OP's keyboard from orbit.
