who talks like that? take my lens loose??!

you mean, remove my lens.

I can turn loose of something, but I still think that sounds odd. I can loosen something as well.

I've never in my life heard someone say take something loose, meaning removing something.
But then again I don't hang out with

My cat got loose, so I don't think it's very funny.

I let mine loose, but then I couldn't check it, because it was loose.

I'd have labeled them like adjunct, pronoun and stuff, but I never actually learned those....I DO know what a verb, noun and adjective is however.

No, the "plain english" tone makes it all the better. Bob the Angry Flower couldn't have done better!

My God, if anyone ever said "take it loose" when talking to me face to face, i'd...i'd....ask thm if they had a day-pass. Obviously, someone that ignorant would have no idea what I was talking about..which would only make me laugh harder.

"Take it loose" or "turn it loose" is common terminology in much of the country for "remove it" or "release it." Don't be surprised if you hear it again someday. It is colloquial Americana speech and has a long history in our country. It is part of our rich American culture that I hope we don't lose. Mark Twain used it often. I enjoy it much more than "text" speech which is just laziness exemplified.

It is surprising to me that you haven't heard it in the Atlanta area at some point.

Edit:I'm fixin' to go over yonder to the Piggly Wiggly when they turn us loose over here. Ya'll want something?

I try not to stick around areas where the aforementioned term may be heard.
****'s not right. Now, "turn it loose" makes sense to me if referring to letting something go, but it still doesn't work when describing to loosen a fixed object. To me, it's about the same as someone who says "I've got an item for sell". Yes, I understand what the point is, but still......
