I have a severe timing issue. Just build my 1990, put together tried to start but nothing. Checked the timing with a timing light and found that the timing is a 1/4 turn to early, and it is to far out to set. any suggestions.

 

Too. 1/4 turn too early. And it is too far out to set.

Stocking CAS, ECU, coils, etc?

If so, adjust the CAS and try again. If it doesn't start, I have no idea how you've determined it's a 1/4 turn too early. Are you refering to a 1/4 rotation of the crank?

 

sorry not to familiar with US abbreviations im from South Africa what you mean by cas every thing is stock except pistons and turbo, the coils are from a 1993 and yes 1/4 turn on the crank.

 

cam angle sensor = cas

 

might want to recheck the timing belt adjustment.

 

checked timing belt ta-da working but dies right down gona change the fuel pump. will keep updating.

 

I don't think the CAS has enough range of adjustment for it to cause the timing to be 90* off on the crank.

During your rebuild did you ever take either of the cam sprockets off the camshaft and perhaps not get it reassembled correctly? If you didn't get them back on in the correct orientation then the marks would still line up properly but the cam timing would be fucked up and it won't run. We observed a similar result when trying to time Lars' motor before we knew what was wrong.

With cyl #1 at TDC and the marks lined up and 19 teeth between the cam sprockets, the lobes on both cams should be pointing outwards on the #1 cylinder.

 

fires up but sounds like its only running on2 cyl. checked plugs 1 and 3 wet 2 and 4 never ran forgot to mention i have 350cc injectors i am going to switch polarities on those injectors.
