Toyota COPs VVT head Fitment question(s)
Heyo!
Wanted to drop a few questions regarding my fitment of the 1zz Toyota COPs on my VVT valve cover. As almost I am sure most of you know, Cyl. 1/3 both have raised Spark plug holes. See pic below.
Now after doing a fair amount of research (what I could) regarding specifically fitting VVT-COPs I was able to find Y8s saying that you just needed to cut the coils, and sand the VC holes for the coils to fit. (Which I have done)
However, I have 2 coils as the other pic below shows, that are lower than the other two. I did make sure to confirm they they are all sitting flat on the VC and there isnt any plastic/ect that is causing them to not seat correctly.
So my question is this. Do I just have to run them like this staggered with something to keep 2/4 pushed down? or when I install this, will they all be above where I have them now/ AKA they wont sit flush to the VC (Firmly pressed on the holes)
I am just trying to do busy work while my engine is getting built and know this is one of the To do's. Also Bonus question. Does anyone have the wiring diagram to run these in wasted spark on a VVT application (2003)? I found Brains write up but saw it only says like... 97+ so... wanted to double check.
(I could be running them in sequential, but Reverent is MIA and I don't know how to wire up his MS3 basic I have to run sequential in my car... SO for now I can run wasted spark, until I hear back from him/someone else)
Thanks for the help guys, and I tried to not ask a stupid question...

Mine didnt set that far down i dont think. I have the rubber piece grommet on he disk part of each coil which they all had to be trimmed(which if you are getting them that far down you have either done this or completely removed he disk). The reason I opted to rim is it adds a a little pressure to hold the coils better buy being a little interference fit

I basically dremeled everything out of the valley and bored the holes with a stepped drill bit to make mine fit. Sadly my pictures are on Photobucket and no longer showing in my build tread.

Old Bump.
I could REALLY use someone to help me figure out how to wire this setup into wasted spark. I see Brain's post but it doesnt talk about VVT engines. Can anyone tell me what wires I need to hookup to make this COP setup run in wasted spark till I hear back from Reverant?
Thanks again guys.

I think his diagram was pretty easy to see how to wire in wasted spark. Basically just connect the signal wires for 1&4 and 2&3. Thats how I am currently running mine but I plan to go sequential very soon. Just leave the settings for stock wasted spark configuration other than changing the dwell for the new COP
