Sooo coool. I want one. This kinda makes me hopeful one day someone will back into my miata enough to justify pulling the drivetrain and other bits.

I would be careful about saying that out loud:

Where does the battery now go, I haven't seen any pictures of it hiding anywhere.

Front of the passenger by the firewall, u can see it in the build video right before the pics start.

Another quick question. In the beginning of this Thread there is a picture of a Miata/ Exocet overlay on post #20 and it says that the radiator is straight up and down. Is there a reason it was changed from stock 8 deg to 0? Is the engine compartment smaller or was it for a easier design?

Keith@FM 09-21-2013 12:43 PM

The engine bay is larger overall. I suspect that Stuart Mills just welded up the radiator mounts that way without paying too much attention, and it's stayed that way because now the bodywork fits it. Not the most critical dimension, really.

Battery can go in a stock-ish location, I believe. In the car in the video, it is in the passenger area. That car is not completely representative of all builds.

It's a kit car, so you can put it wherever you want. ;)
Mine's going under the rear cover, next to the fuel cell.

dutchbag 09-25-2013 02:07 AM

Stuart put the radiator vertically probably because it was easier to design the frame that way. We kept it vertical during the redesign because the stock hoses allow it and it gives a lot more room for LS pulleys. I can't guarantee, but I suspect you don't need the short pulleys like you do in the Miata. We'll find out when we build our own.

One other thing, is there going to be a step by step instructions like your V8 swap (http://www.flyinmiata.com/support/in...ructions.pdf)?

I have been following you on FB about your progress on you own build
(Flyin' Miata : The Exocet : Build diary). I hope to have mine in a year or so, also with a F2000 front and rear wing.

Keith@FM 09-25-2013 10:47 AM

Exomotive is working on a proper instruction set (we have a draft) and we'll be giving them input. It's not available to the public at this time.

We've got some news about rollers as well, that'll be coming tomorrow.

Efini~FC3S 11-06-2013 10:55 AM

From what I can see it looks nice, which means it will likely be $$$

Keith@FM 11-06-2013 10:59 AM

You'll find out more about this teaser soon enough.

Quit teasing us! IT IS TOMORROW ALREADY!

Keith@FM 11-06-2013 11:02 AM

Two different things. The roller announcement isn't connected to the photo above.

Looks like the lighting kit has been finished.

Keith@FM 11-06-2013 11:53 AM

Actually, I was just teasing dutchbag about that. They're not the lights we're going to be offering :) I'll put some shots of our tails on our build diary soon.
