If any of you were following, i got the car back together to discover the Cltuchnet disc i bought was incompatible with the pressure plate. Looks like the overal thickness of the centerforce PP is greater than the clutchnet and stock PP and that's where the issue lay. When i unbolted it, the PP nearly shot off into my face. Easy to see why it wouldn't disengage. anyways, some shots as the work of today progresses:

yeah, that's a massive difference in thickness- especially when you consider the small amount the pp surface actually moves to disengage the clutch assembly. And there was no warning about this?

I like the 1.6t badge as well. I have thought about modifying a VW 1.8t badge to say 1.6t. Is that what you have done?

I'm a little shocked that there was that much difference in thickness. I guess when they sell a kit, they sell it as a kit for a reason. I would never have expected that.

I read about somebody else installing one of these and was provided shims (washers) to increase the pp clearance.

FAIL. I need to shim it seems. Time to drop the tranny again. yay me. **** clutchnet ******* russians. Same damn ****, bet it would have worked on the Centerforce PP. oh well. nothing better to do. Dropped it in 1.5 hours last time, lets see how fast i get do it starting.......NOW.

Use the correct clutch assembly...that's a rig.

I hope you are kidding with those washers.

You are risking that clutch assembly coming apart, not to mention the possibility of clutch shudder.

I just got home from helping Scott. We have gotten extreamly good at dropping the tranny and getting it back in. The washers as shims seemed to do the trick ultimately. After a quick drive there was def some clutch shutter. That is mostly from Scott not being used to a 6puck disk though more then anything. We will see if the shims hold for the future though.

have to remember to bribe you guys with some booze when I do the clutch/diff/ & super to turbo swaps this summer! Had a car with a puck clutch once, I really hated it, but they sure can hold a lot of power..

Those washers are exactly what fidanza sent me for an aluminum flywheel I used many years ago. Did lots of hard core "driving" on it and never had a problem. IYAM the load is on the dowel pins - think about the relatively light torque (and size) of the pressure plate bolts.
