my twin plate doesn't even have dowel pins. still light torque. and I run washers between resurfacings because the twins require a .100 step height (mounting surface to friction surface on the flywheel) so when I get a new friction insert, the step is too big and i have to space it up some.

that's a Clutchnet disc and Clutchnet PP. It's called a shim. It's not a rig. The disc itself it too thick that when the throw out bearing is fully pressing the diaphragm down it still cannot lift the friction surface off the disc. Thus it's permanently engaged. Google "pressure plate shim" I'm not the first and won't be the last.
Would I have rather not have had to do it? hell yes. Dropping the tranny twice in one day is not my idea of fun.

the ebay F1 Stage III is a clutchnet disc and PP
the problem isn't the hardware, the problem is Clutchnet failed to say "hey shim your PP ******. now where's my vodka."

no, but overboost at 1psi is no fun.
New wheel feels perfect, it's in the perfect spot and around corners it feels amazing, smaller diameter helped significantly with the amount of effort my puny arms have to produce.
The issue is a hunting idle after driving, on first start it idles fine, drive around and get up to temp and it hunts....so i got lots of tuning to do still, running a DIY basemap. But I was able to drive it to the store and back and fill it up with 93 octane...so far so good.
dropping it off at a shop tomorrow to fix the exhaust...rattles like the dickens....guess my zipties aren't enough

Not really. I sore.
Lars needs to post to picture of the extension we used....collectively we had about 5' of extension rods at our disposal.
I stopped taking pictures...after we finally got mine running, we installed EBC on lars' and got him hitting 13psi dropping to around 11.5psi at redline (best we could do).
then i spent all night cleaning the garage and didnt leave until after 10pm; started at 7:30am.

That was me...and by provided shimms, I mean I wen to Lowes and took some. (c'mon, they were not even in bags. That would mean that they were free...right?)
Still working fine over here, 2,000 mi later.
^^^^^
hahaha
So un-necessary but whatever works.
Savington and I did 2 transmission swaps in miatas and a GT3076r install on my STi all in one night, not the most fun. And the day before we had done a clutch install.

been there on the twice in one day. or maybe it was two days. the point = sucks *****.
also use the same kind of extension setup. but I use it with my light duty impact. sometimes it makes like a broken helicopter and smacks things, but it's not too strong so it doesn't hurt much.
Here's the BOMB of tranny R&R:

stack those 3/8" bitches from shortest to longest with a 17mm on one end and a flex handle on the other and it's money. you can also just throw the 1/4" ones in the trash so they dont break when you use them the first time.

Scott,
1- Did you use machined shims or regular washers? Those look like regular stamped washers.
2- Since you had to use the shims, the dowel pins should have been shimmed also. The contact points of the pressure plate in the dowel pin area are meant to be used as a support. Here is what I mean:

ok- I'll the first one to admit tony is right about shimming everything.
I missed that- and I shimmed everything when I did the fidanza- they included enough shims for two at each bolt and pin point. - rob
