Hey if anyone wants to help Nick out...
I don't plan on using his old fried '97 engine I bought to rebuild. I have almost everything to make it run except for a set of pistons. The block looks good, the head will clean up, I got a new crankshaft already. All I need is pistons/rings, rods, bearing set, gaskets and she'll run again. I sourced 1.6L rods because I heard there the same. yes/no?
We just need some good used std. pistons/rings or maybe pistons on rods with rings. If his stolen motor has to come out I'd like to help him get something together soon so he doesn't have to miss out on the summer. We have too much time into restoring his neglected '97 Miata to have it all come crashing down over a stolen motor.
This forum has been a great source of info. I've learned alot about Miatas and made a few friends here too. I've contributed my time and effort into returning the favor and helping when I can. This is one of those times I need help to help my friend. =)
I'm done begging now. Please keep an ear out for someone who may have something laying around.

I'll remember that for my own build. I'm hoping someone who bought h-beams and pistons would like to donate there old ones so I can get an engine together for Nick.

3. I think the detecives would be able to tell (again forensics are great) that i pulled the motor recently and changed the oil pan. The hint of fresh oil, sealants, gaskets, a clue sherlock?

i hope they'd do more digging around then fresh oil, because if thats the case then my miata AND 240 have the earmarks of stolen property

if he loves truenos so much why not steal them instead? (other than the obvious lack of)

 

fresh oil alone no, but the combination of those particular items having been done recently would leave me to believe that the motor had been out and the oil pan off the car. also take into fact i said that in the degree of if i changed the pan and the kid talked telling them i had the motor, it would look bad on me hence why i didnt do it.

dont get me wrong i understand your point, it was just at the time i posted i had a lot on my mind and thats how i saw things.

 

For all they know you had it open for inspection before it went in.

whats up, my name is Jeff. I never noticed this thread until know. I believe he got two years probation and some years in "bootcamp". I was there at the last court day.
