Default Add Electromotive (tec I II III IIIR) to ECUS and TUNING!!!!

I have a TEC3 on the shelf and have been PISSED AS HELL that there is LITTLE FOLLOWING to one of the greatest stand alone computers with great software.

Plus the Electromotive guys will TAKE CARE OF YOU! I, for reasons not wishing to discuss, have sent my TEC3 back for service twice... Those guys are cool as ****!

.....OK fine, I may have jumped my car with the wires crossed... It was dark, and I WAS A NEWB once TOO, JUST LIKE YOU!!!!

Seriously though, It seems like the TEC stand alones have little following here....WHY????

CHEERS!

I have not used a TEC3. I would guess $$$$ per feature since most here are DIY kind of guys.

I had a TEC2 once upon a time... DOS software even.

The Tec is so unpopular because of its age. Simpler and better stuff has come along since the Tec 3 came out 10 years ago.

I have one ... for sale.
What I did like about it was that it was the only ECU that NEVER misfired. Even when I used worn stock plugs with 0.055" gap at 10 psi. And it had absolutely ZERO timing jitter when blipping the throttle with a timing light.

I have a TECII in my mx6 and one waiting to go in my miata. My brother and some friends have TECII's in their Mazdas too. I think people make the TECs seem more complicated than it really is. Just a few parameters and it creates a raw fuel curve that is easy to tune, plus there is no need for modification to run low impedance injectors. All are upgraded to the windows based WinTec2 software which makes it easier to tune.

And the ignition is very strong and comes built into the unit. A big plus to me because when I had megasquirt I had to go Ford EDIS and spend extra money to get wasted spark. It took me a few months to get my car mega squirted and running. When i bought my TEC I had installed it and tuned it for low boost in one day.

As old as these units are, they are pretty solid and IMO a good choice for standalone. And Im talking mostly about the TECII. I found both of mine for $3-400 each. My brother got his for $600.

JasonC SBB: How much? And do/are you selling the sensors separately?

rblue,

Do you want one for a miata? My TEC3 includes the trigger wheel, a miata specific 60-2 trigger mount, the pickup, and a miata specific pickup mount. I will also include the coolant sensor and a heater hose splice for it.
