Yeah I've never been a fan of macs, and everyone knows dsl is pretty much the new 56k.

I'm on a different computer now with no problems, so I guess my dell with cable modem beats her mac.

my new one is only 412KB, so if you have issues you fail and that's that.

I'm surprised nobody knew the answer to this issue, it's actually browser rendering that causes this. Each of the major browsers handles the file differently, but it's typically not the file downloading that is the issue (so fast connection or not, the same computer will have the same problem displaying the animated image). On a Mac, you'll find that the animation will affect the whole page (scrolling and all kinds of crap) more on Safari than on FireFox. Though older versions of FF, had a difficult time dealing with the animated GIF as well. It has much less to do with the size of the image, and much more to do with the framerate and number of frames of the animation. Seems like IE 6/7 have a pretty awful result with similar animations, but it's been a while since I've had to look at the browsers and compare. I've never looked at it in chrome, but have to wonder if the GIF rendering is tied to the core Webkit stuff, or if it's unique to Chrome.

I've had similar results on Windows XP/Vista.

That said, I've got a very stout machine, but still just prefer Safari (though I recognize FF as a superior browser)... and that cat animation just killed page browsing for me. I'd rather watch the scene from Ferris Bueller's anyway.

Is there someway you can get the star wars music to go along with it? That would be awesome.
