Don't count me in on boat shenanigans. Cause ginger. I burn during full moons and bright scenes in the movie theater. Wife though is another story.

That's why they make spf 70 sunscreen. Apply it often and generously and you should be fine. Source: Dated a ginger for 3 years. She loved the beach.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised that it will be plenty comfortable. There are shady spots, a canopy, as well as fresh water at just the right temp.

The water is the best part of the gathering.

I'll be buying burgers, dogs, buns, and fixins. I know Troy and Lars are going to be smoking some meat. I think we will need plenty of sides, though. Canned stuff like green beans, baked beans, creamed corn would be great because you don't need to refrigerate it and it is quick to prepare. Corn on the cob would be great, too. Chips and salsa will be great to bring. Paper plates, napkins, sporks and foons would also be good to bring. I'll get some eggs, bread for toast, coffee, and some OJ (I'm sure Lars wants mimosas). I'll have *some* beer there but you should all consider bringing a little something to share with your fellow travelers throughout the course of the day. I only have one smallish cooler. Deck chairs, camp chairs, and folding chairs will be a plus. I'll also provide a boat, a house, and some air conditioning. Consider bringing sunscreen and also bug repellent for the campfire hours.

I'm open to suggestions as well. The guys who came last time can probably tell me something else I forgot.

No need since I'm coming

Got green light... didn't know if it was going to work out. I'll bring the clippers and massage oil :)

I really am out, btw. I totally forgot that my buddy's wedding is that weekend.

Just now seeing this thread! I'll check up on the schedule and hopefully I can make it down to the land of temptation.

I don't think it will be possible for me to bring anything frozen, which is a shame because I was trying to see if I could bring at least 12 bugs up for grillin'.

sixshooter 08-11-2013 07:34 AM

Dry ice.

sixshooter 08-11-2013 10:02 PM

Bring bug repellent, booze, and sunscreen, too.

Does anyone wakeboard? Kneeboard? Tube? What do I need to prepare?

I'll be able to make it. Floor space is fine for me, I can make do with whatever.

Steve, I'll do any and all of the above, whatever you are kind enough to throw us around with in the water!

Anyone have something they want from up here in NC? I'm thinking some local beer.

TorqueZombie 08-12-2013 12:31 AM

Tube. Takes the least coordination.

GeneSplicer 08-12-2013 12:55 PM

Bahh... seems I'll be headed to Greeneville, SC instead y'all. Sadly, my wife's 94yr old grandmother is not doing well for the past month and just was diagnosed Sat with some form of acute colon cancer. She has maybe a month or two, if not passing from something else. We'll be visiting her this weekend while we have the time... may be the last. Sorry steve/y'all - I was looking forward to getting away - you wouldn't have missed me anyway!

Ryan_G 08-12-2013 01:10 PM

I'm sorry to hear that Genesplicer. Family is always priority and I hope you can get in some quality time with her before her time is up. Steve, I am up for any and all watersports. I would really like to try to wakeboard.
