I'm convinced that running around with an axe looking for gear is the best way to play this game. If you die you only lose an axe and bag but can run to the nwaf and not care if you die while picking up bad *** gear.
Now dieing on your way out sucks.

This is pretty much how I do it. I try to spawn near the lower left and immediately head north. Once I get near the airfield I try to join games with fewer people to avoid the chance of getting picked off by snipers camping the barracks. Low hassle badass gear and lots of it. Plus if you die along the way the loss is minimal.
IS anyone playing the free version? Is it really that much worse?
EDIT: I meant the free and the Operation arrowhead version VS the Combined operations.

if you're referring to the ARMA free version + OA then no, not much worse. only difference from what I can tell/remember is player models are low res. I'm on the 'free' install and it's fine.
if you're talking about a completely free version I didn't know it existed.

So as soon as I found out about this game I wanted it, but I didnt want to drop the $30. So Ive been watching videos all day about it on yt. Mostly, FRANKIEonPCin1080p. GF says Just buy it, Im sick of listening to the guy talk on the videos

For the record I stopped playing and I wouldn't buy it.
Hacking is rampant and there is no stopping it. The anti cheap arma using is crap and server admins have had the ability to kick as we please and print servers are a no no unless you run your own hive (save) server.
I would wait for arma 3 / dayz or dayz standalone to start playing.
Side note, the bugs are worse then hackers sometimes.

Anyone else still playing DayZ? Namalsk, a new map, is quite fun. You gear up very quickly, and get to the good part: shooting people in the face.
Also since there are private hives everywhere, there are no hacker problems.

Namalsk is all you ever wanted from DayZ if you like PvP.
Private hives: BMRF is my favorite right now, whitelisted, just create a forum account to get on the list. On #4 Namalsk I just got an AS50. .50cal sniper isn't very useful when there is a guy 3 feet behind you with an AK pointed at your head.
