I use a DAS Keyboard 4 Professional at work. It's not super loud. I got the Cherry MX Brown version because I don't like clicky noises.

 

I can certainly see why. Primochill's fluids contain powdered aluminum, which would have an abrasive effect on anything they're pumped through. From their own datasheets:

Yeah, this just really seems like a bad idea to me. Seriously, thus business of using fancy-looking water in the cooling system is like the g4m3r-d00d version of under-body neon. Except it also appears to be harmful to the system, as well.

 

Not at all the same as underbody neons. Maybe a vinyl wrap...

​​​​​​I'm willing to bet that even if it ran 24/7 the hardware this fluid is being used on will be outdated before it wears it down enough to make a difference in temperature. And so I have to buy a new D5 pump impeller in a few years. Not a big deal. You have to remember that those of us who chose to run a custom loop accept the fact that it will be down for maintenance throughout it's life. Much like running the risk of it leaking and ruining everything. If I wanted reliability, stability, and little to no maintenance I would (not run ryzen for one) probably just buy an off the shelf PC with a warranty.

Same thing with tripling the power output on a racecar. It's not the machine that gets me to work, it's a toy, if it breaks down it's no big deal.

 

Also. I checked and it absolutely does settle out. I upended this jug and a bunch of "solid" or heavier stuff was stuck to the bottom. A few light shakes and it became suspended again.

 

That sounds ideal for a coolant used in a critical application.

 

I vote for 50/50 prestone mix and rubber automotive hoses... to be 'unique'.

 

Except it's been tested extensively and there have not been any cases of failure or even signs of build up or wear. The opposite in fact.

But realistically you should be monitoring your temps while using the machine anyways...I don't see the fluid destroying pumps being an issue, over several years it may cause some small damage to the impellers..but for a $75ish pump a couple years is pretty good. Also, any fluid can cause buildup in blocks - even distilled water without enough PTNuke can have growth and block your loop. People should be draining and cleaning the blocks and pumps as routine maintenance at least once a year, I personally drain my fluid roughly every 6 months and disassemble my blocks for inspection. Been running opaque coolants for a long time and never had any sort of major buildup.

My biggest fear right now with switching to VUE is that I will be switching from Mayhems Pastel line, which can cause serious reactions in the loop. So i will be flushing my system with system reboot and a lot of distilled water, clean blocks by hand and then more water before putting VUE into my system.

 

Bake your radiators. Make sure all the water is out of them. I believe Kyle (bitwit) had an issue switching from a pastel to Vue.

In regards to your comments on the fluid. You're right, any of the above can happen with the distilled water and PK nuke i have in my system now. I also transfer my system to LAN parties regularly. There's totally a chance i bump it enough for a fitting to loosen up and leak. It sure is a risk, but so is leaving the house. That's like all these people who dump millions of dollars into a car but never drive it, trailer it everywhere and keep it in a bubble. There's no point to that in my eyes. I'm going to run my system hard and fix it when / if it fails.

Or maybe i just have to much money...

I'm looking to upgrade my monitors for my desktop and move my current 2X24" screens over to the iRacing setup I'm working on (along with another 24" for 3X).

Looking to go with one of the 21:9 curved monitors.

Looking at:
(1) LG 34UC88-B 34" IPS Curved WQHD LED Monitor
(2) Dell U3415W 34.08" IPS Curved LED Monitor
(3) Samsung LC49HG90 49" Ultra-wide Curved HDR QLED Monitor

Anyone have experience with the 21:9 format in general?

Typically, when I'm in my office I have 2 cad screens open (Autocad + Fusion 360), 1 or 2 Excel, Browser

Mainly screen real estate, hardly no gaming.

I currently use an AMD Radeon R9 380 card with 4GB

Any advice?

 

Do not go with the Samsung as it is really a gaming monitor. It is also not 21:9, but 32:9. The resolution sucks also: 3840x1080, terrible for productivity. Combine that with the much higher price and it is a total no-go in my opinion.
The other two are good choices I think and with 3440x1440 much better for productivity.
You could also consider the Samsung C34F791WQ, which is a little bit better at gaming and movie watching (due to being 100Hz and VA), but worse when it comes to color critical work.

The LG with the IPS screen looks good. You didn't mention the res of your current monitors, but I'd want at least 1440 for either gaming or especially for productivity.

I just ordered an Acer Predator 34" 21x9 3840x1440 monitor, so I can't give direct feedback yet, but can this time next week assuming shipping estimates hold true.

I've been running 3xAsus VG248QE monitors for 5 years now in 5760x1080. Previously I had been using a 1920x1200 monitor. It has been good for gaming, racing games in particular, but moving from a 1200 monitor, I was irritated early on with the 1080 vertical resolution for anything productive, or even mt.net. The irritation has never gone away. I finally bit the bullet for a 1440 res 21x9 monitor. Performance wise, triple screens has been ok, with antialiasing disabled. It was first powered by a 560TI, then a GTX770, then a GTX970, and now by a GTX 1080. I will say until the 1080 the cards struggled not necessarily due to horsepower but due to the 2GB memory we were stuck with on cards until recently. You want a GB per megapixel, so I finally have enough. iRacing isn't terribly demanding but if you want all the look pretty options enabled you'll need enough memory. I can now enable them.

The new monitor is scheduled to arrive next week, and my current plan is to use my 1920x1200 in portrait mode alongside it, against the wall, because I'm a screen real estate *****. This means my 3 VG248QE screens may be for sale when the new monitor gets here, if you're interested. They're 144hz TN panels. I would run Lightboost on them for essentially flicker free 144hz performance. PM me if you want to explore this. I have all the original packaging for shipment. I have this stand, which I recommend :

 

Both monitors were just mismatched 1920x1080 about 3yr old so due for an update (1) Acer 23" & (1) ASUS 23".

I ended up going with (2) Acer KG271U 27" Monitors both with AMD Freesync and 2560x1440 setup on my dual VESA articulating stand. Technically 27" is the largest the stand will support but I could probably go 29" barely...

I just couldn't give up the screen real estate going to the single 34" 21:9 format and I like having 1 single CAD window filling up the main screen. For some reason, when I actually sat in front of the 34" monitor it seemed like I'd be missing space.

I bought both monitors locally for $245 each.

I'm using DisplayFusion to control both monitors but I'm still learning it's capabilities.

 

What do you consider recently? The R9 290 card I bought back in 2014 was a 4GB card.
