I would have bought this if it was available 2mths ago :p.

Ah well, my 560ti DS will have to do the job. Buying new is less fun though.

Im still running 06 hardware(Q6600) with a GTX260. I really really want to upgrade but everytime I plan a build I ask myself what for and give up the effort.

If anything id get a new video card only.

Going i7 (maybe i5 pending on pricing) new modo. maybe getting 2 more 4gb sticks and 2 660tis on black Friday / cyber Monday.

blaen99 Sep 7, 2012 02:04 PM

What do you play that you need SLI? certainly not TF2

To be honest with you, I haven't experienced a black Friday or cyber Monday that offered better deals than one could find any other day of the week. Unless you are planning to go camp a best buy or staples, then MAAAAYBE, otherwise IMHO...meh.

You missed a good game last night. It was split, myself, blaen and swevik on one team. It got challenging towards the end because the teams balanced out really well.

Anything made in the last year at ultra settings and that will be released in the next 2 years. I can play a lot of stuff but not max ultra settings at lest at 45+ fps.

Source is 8 years old and the version that runs tf2 does not take much.

And I was talking about gw2 like blaen was.

sixshooter Sep 8, 2012 02:57 PM

I was with some decent guys but they started dropping off and something was buggy so nobody new could get on. That was early though. I was off but not logged out of steam. Sorry for missing the invites.

Its OK, hit me up next time youre on.

I'm going to try to get on now, but I expect I might get interrupted.

No scrap metal, I don't think. Where would I find that, my backpack?

Joe Perez Sep 8, 2012 07:51 PM

Got your note, I'll see if I can break down a couple of items to create some scrap metal- I've honestly never really used the crafting system much.

How many do you need?

shuiend Sep 8, 2012 07:53 PM

How do I break down things so you can craft? Teach me how and I will see if I can make anything happen.

Smelting any two identical weapons, or any two weapons from the same class, produces one scrap metal

Thanks man.

Just played machine massacre MvM with a random group of guys, except 3 of them turned out to complete the tour at the end of the game. The team consisted of, 1 medic, 1 spy, 1 pyro, 1 heavy, 1 engie, 1 demo. It was crazy. At first I said no spy gtfo, but the dude insisted he knew what he was doing. I wasnt expecting to win so I said fine whatevs.

Our krtiz medic would charge our demo while he set down the sticky bombs. The spy would sap ubercharge medics as they dropped. Then the kritz stickies would go off and destroy the medics and heavily damage the super heavy/soldier. In parallel the kritzkrieg medic on our side would uber either the heavy or the pyro and it made short work of damn near anything. It was friggin crazy. I am convinced a spy in the right hands can really make a difference, same for the medic.

We had 4 tanks on the last wave and it was absurd. We didnt have to repeat a single wave. We beat the round in under an hour.

I'm not normally much of a fan of Machinima-style videos, but this one is really quite good. Beyond the obvious amount of work and dedication to the technical aspects of the production, it actually manages to tell a funny story and involve you in the emotions of the characters. Reminds me a great deal of the early Pixar short films (Tin Toy, Luxo Jr, etc.)

Click through, and embiggen at HD. It's worth a few minutes of your life.

Helps to be familiar with the back-story of Engineer as told in the "Meet the Engineer" video, as well as have some familiarity with the maps and the back-story of Poopy Joe. (eg: now we know the real truth about what happened to him.)

You also need decent speakers or headphones. The soundtrack is nearly inaudible on laptop speakers, and the music is what really tells the story here.
